Fincantieri Yachts 75-meter "Goldmine"
The Fincantieri Yachts Design Team is proud to unveil its astonishing new concept design: Project Goldmine. As we always do, while developing the lines of the vessel, we have undertaken a thorough preliminary technical study, including a parametric study of similar size yachts and a preliminary review of the naval architecture, in particular in terms of weights, power and stability, hull and superstructure lines, which has been carried on with the most up to date design IT programs, some of them are developed exclusively for Fincantieri Yachts. The design is anyway still enough flexible for a further adaptation to the owner’s specific requirements.
The external design is elegant and well-proportioned, though the yacht has large volumes for her 75m LOA...
Fincantieri Yachts 70-meter "Prospect"
Prospect is designed as a seagoing vessel for unrestricted service. The hull construction will be steel, with a light alloy superstructure. The vessel will be twin screw with a bulbous bow. Propulsion will consist of twin diesel engines, each coupled to a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) through a reduction gear. The vessel will also be equipped with a twin high lift rudder plant, one bow thruster and two pairs of stabilizers designed to provide active roll reduction both in underway and at anchor. Power for the ship will come from 3 diesel generators, with one back-up emergency generator...
Yacht building is far more than good lamination and joinery. Systems integration and engineering play equally important roles. A few builders have taken this to a higher level, developing one-off, custom engineered features that advance the state of the yachting art. Nowhere is this more apparent than with Northcoast Yachts.
There is great complexity in creating simplicity. Northcoast’s 87’ is a prime example of this technical mastery; cleverly assimilating the yacht’s onboard systems into easy access, clean installations. The Northcoast 87’ design will not only stand the test of time, its superlative workmanship ensures its place among yachting’s most elite. For the complete review.....

The Vitruvius Explorer 50m will be the first yacht to be built with the Vitruvius Concept and the first motor yacht by Perini Navi under the Picchiotti brand. In the words of Giancarlo Ragnetti, Perini Navi CEO: “The name of Picchiotti is part of the Italian shipbuilding tradition of which it was one of the founders. Since the 1990s Picchiotti is part of the Perini Navi Group which absorbed its experience and valuable traditions. Nordhavn 86' "Super Trawler"
Measuring in at a sizable 86 feet, the Nordhavn 86 trawler model is the largest of the company so far. This size pushes them ever-so-close to the megayacht market. Trawler yachts allow high endurance and range with the comfortable accommodations needed for long endeavors. The Nordhavn 86 model gives this plus more. It is clear the 86 footer continues some of the same genes present in the smaller models.
With an incredible beam of 24 feet, she offers sizable latitude. This includes storage on the fore for a tender of up to 20 feet. This is attainable as a result of the aft configured wheelhouse and salon areas. Moving these areas aft does not compromise the abundance of space.
The space in the social areas is large, upwards of 30 feet, in areas like the sky lounge and saloon...

Abeking & Rasmussen SWATH "Silver Cloud"
Not many builders have ventured into S.W.A.T.H platforms for motoryachts. The acronym S.W.A.T.H means Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull and there are numerous advantages to this hull technology.
The name Silver Cloud was once written on the sides of a monohull. In particular, this mono hull was a Feadship with a length of 143 feet. This is not to be mixed up with the small cruiseship of the same name. Now there is a new project under construction currently by Abeking and Rasmussen which seems to be the successor of the 143 foot Feadship.
The new A&R S.W.A.T.H vessel will be a bit smaller in length than the Feadship but will make up for it in stability and added space. The new Silver Cloud will be 133 feet long and 58 feet wide with a draft of 13.5 feet...

YachtForums.com presents a bold, virile concept in what may be the “Hummer” of cruising yachts; the H2X 88’ MCAT "Bradley". A remarkable statement that is surely the MRAP of yachting’s today and tomorrow, it is certain to influence a new generation of naval architects.
Despite its brawny facade, the MCAT offers genuine comfort in contemporary elegance with its apartment-approach to the modern yachting lifestyle. While the MCAT is just shy of 88’ LOA, its catamaran configuration flaunts a beam of 34’10”; the equivalent of a single hull vessel one and one-half times longer...

Volvo Penta's IPS Goes BIG!
New Larger Engines and Drive Systems
by Carl Camper
Volvo Penta, one of the most innovative companies in marine history, has once again left the competition cavitating. In just over two years, Volvo's revolutionary IPS system has made its way under the hulls of over 100 boat models, ranging from 30 to 75 feet. Not since the development of the anchor has a new component been so readily accepted by the world's leading builders.
Builders have been quick to adapt Volvo's IPS technology for many reasons. First and foremost, because of the gains in efficiency, performance and maneuverability over conventional drive systems. But also, because they can install an IPS system in a few hours. Compare that with days, or even weeks, for a standard powerplant & drive system. Think of it as an outboard.....

Four years ago, a client whose business portfolio includes a number of companies involved in cutting edge technology approached Abeking & Rasmussen to build a new 68-meter motor yacht with an emphasis on pushing a number of existing boundaries. Enter… the new Aviva!
By incorporating a very fine, near vertical "knife" bow, Aviva has successfully reduced deceleration and vertical forces that add resistance to the hull’s forward motion. The result is far less pitching and ultimately… a much smoother ride with more consistent speed...
