Ha, I got away with it this time: Several owners offered me to take the boats out, to keep ‘em fresh and run ‘em: One guy from Alaska had a sailboat here at my dock and only came once a year to sail, for 11 years. Lots of deferred maintenance, had a sister ship, did not need to sail his boat.
That's work, keeping the motors lubricated and making sure the barnacles haven't taken over. I had a few of them myself up here. Easy money, and for the owner it beats coming to use the boat only to find it won't start or go on plane. The first year I had a boat down there I went 13 months before scraping the hull figuring it would be ok since I ran every day. When I hauled she had one barnacle...It went from bow to stern.
