Interesting black cubes on the sky lounge level of Avangard II. Anybody have an idea as to what that is?

Elevator or just contemporary sky lounge windows?

Wow! I've never seen a helicopter hangar like that before. Kind of ruins the aesthetic lines of the yacht.

Quite the opposite when compared with other hangars. This one is sort of a hybrid hangar whereby much of it retracts and/or disappears when the bird is not aboard. They carry a pretty big helicopter for a relatively (164') boat. The second deck also mechanically extends in order to make more landing room.

That's correct Ken, I forgot to mention just that, that the glass enclosure does retract and extend depending on the needs much like those on USCG High and Medium Endurance cutters.

    A little less mystery..

Hi, I am the guy managing the refit of Sultana.
She is indeed the ex Din-Dina form De Vries aalsmeer.
We found her at the yard in Beaulieu sur mer, France in a miserable condition.
    About 9 years abandoned..
Took us about 4 months to get her afloat and running again.
When she was spotted I had found a adventurous crew that was willing to bring her to Holland.
The old 1968 Gardners...ran 240 hours without any trouble.
She is now in Enkhuizen, Holland and will be refitted/rebuild there.
Plans are to make her as "green" as possible, even the old Gardner engines can be "green" too..at least, that's studied now by the technical university in Holland.
I'll post a picture of the initial idea of what she will look like that we have in mind..And one the day we found her in Beaulieu sur mer
    Keep spotting...

    Hi,

Kees that was a good spot you had there to find Seafarers post way back at 222.

I had to search to find it myself but remember seeing the brown boat with the radar reflector hoisted when I passed the posts.

I too am interested to know whereabouts it is being rebuilt.

    rebuild yard sultana

    Hi,

First my apologies for breaking the forum rules with the large picture.
    Won't happen again..

Sultana is now at the shipyard called: "United shipyards" in Enkhuizen Holland. This yard is part of the Harwall groupe.
    Formally the "Spiro" shipyard.
I have choosen this yard because they used to do a lot of work as sub- contractors for reknown yards such as Holland Jachtbouw, Jongert etc...
Now they want to take on complete projects instead of sub-contracting only.

    Have a nice day.
    Kees
