You are right K1W1. When she arrived I noticed she had IMO 1003736 which according to www.equasis.org, belongs to the SEA JEWEL.

    Hi,

Does anyone have any details of this yacht STEEL?

It looks more like a conversion than a new build.

Well I know she was built at Pendennis UK and I thought she was a newbuild that was made to mirror a transporter or shuttle tug. I'll see what I can find for you K!W!.

    Hi,

Ron, I can show you a few Factory Trawlers around 90m that started as 70's Louisiana Mud Boats around 30m they were towed to Nthn Europe and "refitted" using a few frame sections of the original boats and kept on the US Register which is how they could go and fish in Alaska.

One is currently laying back in Bremerhaven close to where it was converted many years ago, it was undergoing some type of conversion for Nth Sea work last year when I looked at it for a client but now seems to just be laid up.

A friend who is overseeing a build at Pendennis says that Steel's owner origanally bought a tug for conversion. This was not large enough for the cruising he wanted to do so Steel was designed and started. Halfway through the build the owner wanted even more space, thus an extra 5m was inserted.

She is built to Ice Class.
