CUOR DI LEONE in Gibraltar on the 14th November. This yacht suffered a small fire hours before these pics were taken. Here's an extract from a local newspaper - www.chronicle.gi YACHT FIRE EXTINGUISHED Emergency services in Gibraltar responded to a fire on a large yacht anchored off the North Mole on Friday morning. Crew on the Coeur de Leone raised the alarm after finding a small fire in the vessel’s engine room. They sealed the hatches and poured CO2 gas into the engine room to suffocate the blaze. Local tugs rushed to the scene and ferried personnel from the City Fire Brigade, who boarded the vessel and ensured the fire was extinguished. The Gibraltar Port Authority was also in assistance, as were the Gibraltar Services Police and the Royal Gibraltar Police, who took non-essential crew off the yacht. Daniel
Hi, I guess that this latest incident lays bare the longstanding Bennetti claim that the only thing that needs adjustment on a crossing is the ships chronometer.
Thank You Kind Sir! Daniel, Thank You for sharing the wonderful view from your part or the world. I have enjoyed looking at your photographs as much or more than any source I have found on the web. Seeing these yachts at a port en-route, if you will, seems to offer a flavor quite different than what we see so many times in "destination" port photos. Your photographs remind me that yachts, while sea-borne houses, are in fact transportive vessels that are constantly moving and replentishing. It may seem weird to say, but while I sit at my desk in Northern Alabama, USA and watch out my window at the endless stream of cars and trucks flowing by on the interstate highway, I find comfort knowing that at the same moment these beautiful yachts are moving so far away. Thanks again for sharing your view. Sincerely, Bill
