Well with all those toys aboard, they are probably not bored. They have used just about everything onboard regularly since being here. Only thing I haven't seen used or know of being used are those 6 to 8 jet ski PWCs stored on the bow, infront the mast. Two I have seen on shipspotting...from someone on a cruise maybe. http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1545154 http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1545153
Regarding the Heliport at Grantley Adams Airport, one is actually outside of the Concorde Exhibition. They constantly fly the EC155 up there, but I don't know where they land. A few times the chopper was flown up to St.Peter and I believe it landed up there as well, and that was nearly a year ago. There are many places where landing is possible in Barbados, as there are a lot of flat (and somewhat) even surfaces on the island.
MadJohn... What you are refering to is where the Tour R-44 helicopter lands and takes off from? (Horizon Tours I think it is called)
Yes, where the Tour Robinson uses. Could it be possible that the Katara guys were practising an emergency situation?
It could be anything, they could have been taking dramatic photos...who knows so I wouldn't speculate but I just found it interesting. Meanwhile..."Vive la Vie" came in down at the marina... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/marinas-waypoints/6203-yachts-port-st-charles-marina-41.html
"Katara" was out in the Bay for most of the day today and she returned to the port this evening. I took some shots of her entering the harbour from distance. Bare in mind, the yacht is mostly lit and moving, recipe for blurred photos. So I tried.
"Katara" seems to have departed the island...I wasn't at the computer when she left so I have no idea where she is gone or if she is heading back across the Atlantic or to other islands. She was here for nearly 4 months, since Feb.
She's in Trinidad now. I never realized that she looks that much like 'Eclipse'. From the front, she screams 'Eclipse'!. Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions
"Katara" returned today...not sure if she is sticking around too long though. The blades are out of A7-HMD and it is in it's storm cover. As I speak some of the crew are cleaning the beach landing tender. Maybe Katara is preparing to cross.
I sure hope not. Katara was here last year for Rally Barbados, as apparently the owner was watching the Event. I'm not surprised that she didn't stay in Tobago, but quite intrigued as to why she left at all.
"Katara" has departed for good for this season! She has now rounded the north coast of the Island and is heading north east at over 19-knots. No doubt she is crossing the Atlantic and will turn up in Gibraltar.
She had a very nice stay and offered a lot to see! Thank you for the great coverage you provided during all that time and for the great shots showing her at many angles, times and lights. The hand over goes to Daniel now! I call him the Sheriff of Gibraltar! Cheers,
Yes, no problem! Daniel could start to look out for her 5 days from now I guess?. I think the crossing is usually about 6 days once they have good weather and can maintain 17 to 19 knots right across.
Cruise season is going to start back soon...in fact the first call of the season is tomorrow with "Oriana" currently in St. Lucia, will be here on Monday. Hopefully the yachts will come this season again. Had a pretty good season last time.
