    Katara

Good morning, have just signed up mainly because my son is currently working on Katara and having found this website it is interesting for me to follow the boats progress although at present she seems happy in Barbados. Keep taking the photos and posting any news you have. Contact with my son is sporadic to say the least and he will be amazed that I can track him down!! I can also follow the boat on Marinetraffic which is another useful website.

Welcome, Mum. It's amazing that YF can be helpful for such diversified reasons. Be sure to post if you have any interesting news to report or photos to share via your son. Why not have him sign up for YF?

Hi JWY, thanks for the welcome. I know in US my name is female but in UK is male, so I am Dad!! My son is not so good at computer stuff hence the difficulty in keeping in touch, but I will ask him.

    Hi,

A word of warning Asking your son for pics to post might violate ships policy.

The Skipper on there runs a tight ship so err on the side of caution

Pics are really tight onboard. I'm sure some of the crew takes pics onboard but to share them with the public is another story, hardly will happen, If it does they could become redundant, possibly.

Welcome to YF Sir, glad you have found some kind of comfort seeing regular photos of the yacht here, gives a sense of connection with your son. Glad I could help indirectly!

    Hi Dad --

I owe two apologies: (1) Sorry about the name - I should have known better. (2) Of course I only meant for pic posts to be under ship rules.

Glad to see buddies came to the rescue offering safe advice. Jeez, I blew my welcome post every which way, but the welcome stands.

    Judy

HI JWY, no problem, I had the same problem with my name in many countries when I was travelling around on business. Most were disappointed I wasn't female!! Well aware of the sensitivities surrounding this boat and of course, would never dream of compromising my sons employment. Thanks again for your interest.

Some pics for Laurie and anyone else interested that I took tonight of "Katara", again she went out to the Bay, as we had 5 cruise ships in today.

    Thanks Milow!!

Hey Laurie, I bet it would be. Alot of hard work though, I can't imagine how much work it is to clean a 410-foot yacht. Guess that is why she has 70 crew!

Tribu is back in the Port now.

Katara is out in the Bay.

And 'Katara One' has been flying around all day.

Guys I ran into one of "Katara's" Vikal limos close up...I was literally like 6 inches from it! It is gorgeous! was all lit up with the mood lighting and underwater lights and such. Luckily I had my camera at the time and parked off the side of the road and ran back to see this beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I'll post one or two night photos when I have some time. You really need to see this tender in person, pictures do NO justice!

Here is a sample... I talked to the taller dude, he told me he was practicing berthing proceedures and teaching the other crew member how to berth the big limo. A few moves and in a few mins they were on their way back out to the mother ship.

Great pics. If the taller one was a Brit, about 6 ft 5"", and very handsome, he may have been my son. He has driven this tender before but not sure whether he is a regular driver or not. Thanks again to all you out there keeping me posted.

Yes the guy was around that height and sounded British, although he was rushing his speech because he was more concentrating on controling the Limo.

The interior is very nice, they had the front access door/window opened so you could see inside very well, pretty comfortable and posh. Again, you MUST see this thing in action in person, my photos do no justice and because she was moving around, getting pics in the night with lights without blurring them without the use of a tripod isn't easy, but I tried. The underwater lights are AMAZING as well as the lights running along the boarding steps. and something I found out while I saw her upclose, she seems to have a ramp in her bow that can drop down for beach landings.
