On "Search" functions... you have this tool available on the header's wood navbar. Because the header is present on every page, your search tool is too. Also as Lars mentioned, the search tool can be accessed through the forum jump menu at the bottom of the page, however the forum jump is not on every page. It's not included it on the main forum index because it would be slightly redundant and we're making every effort to keep the entire layout clean and clutter-free. Unlike my house right now. ;)

On the Buddy Link... let me think about this one. It's not used very often. Yes, it's nice to have, but it can also be one more thing that can overwhelm some senior members, or those that are new to forums. I think you guys understand. :)

Off topic, but I've been wondering why I can't spell today! I type a sentence and it's full of mistakes. Then I realized... the remote sensor for my wireless keyboard is covered by a piece of paper!

I was thinking more of a direct search box rather than a forum jump, but i guess it would just clutter the box. [goes back into corner]

Hey there, "senior members" would be me! Granted, the Buddy List is underused. Or, I suspect, not used at all by many. But this would finally give the poor thing a purpose.

Add my name to that list! I remember when I was 20-something and thought 40 was old. Now I'm 45 and deeply resent being call "sir"!

You're not even close Carl. Just tell the bikini bimbos that you're "seasoned" :)

Does anyone have a direct overhead, aerial running shot of a yacht? Preferably a horizontal picture? I'm trying to finish-off the new Members Toolbox before taking the final version live today.

If you've been to the site this weekend, you've probably noticed a few changes taking place...

The new YF header is finally finished. I'm also making a bunch of banners to go in the member's toolbox. You might have seen a few variations while I test 'em.

    Returning to Photoshop now...

    Thank you Kelly!

Finding the right images is really a challenge. Not only do the colors have to work well with the site, the images need to give the feeling of being "onboard" and convey the lifestyle.

The place where the images are located, the member's toolbox, is also where the Member's Rewards will be featured, but this also presents some challenges. Not sure we're going to keep the members toolbox in it's current configuration because it presents some lay out problems and consumes a lot of space.

    We'll keep tweakin'!

LOL! That's one of the images I was going to use! :D

It's one of the better overhead shots out there, but I'm still searching for a direct overhead with lots of wake behind it. Like I said earlier, finding the right images has been a challenge.

    Thanks Arnie!

    An update on YF-V2...

Below is the YF Hits Chart for January. We eclipsed 14 million hits and over 64,000 readers. The increase in traffic is mostly a result of the optimization techniques we developed and implemented with the launch of YF-V2.

Thanks to everyone who has made YachtForums your online waypoint!

Thanks Arnie, but the real credit is due to members who make YF an informative destination. Thank to all! :)

Because we want new people to see they have found a site with information pertaining to all builders. You would be surprised... some people think the site is only for the boats featured on the front page. Here in lies the problem... sometimes we have a lot of superyachts on the front page. For most people, this is another man's reality. They can't relate to this, so they continue surfing. Hence, we have a lot of lurkers. (look at the hits chart!)

With all of the builders listed on the front page, new people will see the yachts listed in which they are seeking information on, i.e. reviews, news, discussions, etc. I am setting up the front page to take readers and viewers directly into their category of interest and this will be on multiple levels. I'm just not finished yet.
