I don't post much here but do read the forum weekly.

There is a gent who has been posting videos to youtube regarding yachts and their construction/ opperation. He repepresents himself as a broker in Monaco. A few of his videos have been critical of yacht management and construction.

He posted a video today stating that an Italian ship yard has been given an injuction to block his content?

I will not post any links or mention his name, anyone have more details?

A couple of months ago he posted his videos to YF. They read like sensationalistic leaders to garner as many clicks as possible. His comments were quite damning however some were on-point. Much of his citings have been previously discussed on YF. In fact, he referenced online forums and included a screen shot of YF to add credibility to his claims yet he never credited his source. For this reason I removed the videos and deleted the thread. It was pretty clear he was trying to tap into our traffic to build his following.

My guess is he couldn’t make it as a broker so he’s trying to be an influencer. At the very least, he's trying to use YouTube to build credibility by picking apart shortcomings or disparaging builders to gain the trust of clients.

I agree his productions are a bit over hyped, that said, his video of one large outfit building several makes is likely the source?

In that video he mentioned several brands that range in price and perception being built under one roof. While that alone is not an indictment of quality it does raise questions? Are the high value ' high quality' boat built with better materials, more precision or attention to detail? Mass production itself is neither good or bad, Toyota makes a pretty good product, yet even they have issues with particular models.

The comments he made regarding one place building all these brands does shed light on an industry that is not well known to the general public?

I saw one of the videos and agree it looks like he has an axe to grind.

Personally if I were approached by a client who wanted to build a megayacht at a speedboats cost I would have no hesitation in reminding them that the sour taste of a bad deal remains long after the sweet taste of a low price. I was involved in one a few years ago when somehow a chancer got the clients e mail address. The client was asking how this guy could build the boat using all the same equipment and subbies as the yard he was about to sign with at 50% of the price and 30% of the time. I was lucky to have enough contacts in the trade to get a couple of these subbies to confirm that they had never done and would never do any business with this guy who was pushing the deal.

I didn't get THAT KIND of feeling from the videos. More of a the lower tier production boats are like many products built to last the warranty period MAYBE? He seemed critical of the high volume dock queens.
