Yes, I've been all over the boat looking for where this could have come from. My conclusion is it was mixed into a filter packaging at some point. It looks like it has been in there for a LONG time.

    C4ENG,

Probably shouldn't respond to a hi-jack thread, but.....

I know this works on gasoline but I have not tried it on Diesel....SALT! Salt takes the smell of gas away, kind of hurts, but that probably why it works...rubs your skin right off.

    Hi,

I did my apprenticeship as a Diesel Mechanic so I have had my hands and other parts of my carcass covered in Diesel, Lube Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Road Grime and other difficult to remove stuff many times.

Swarfega whilst being a big seller is not the best to get the gunk off in my personal opinion and experience. It used to dry the skin out something chronic.

The best one I have found to date is a GoJo one.

Sorry to go off topic again but I would like to mention how important it is to protect your hands when handling fuel filters either with a decent barrier cream or even better suitable gloves. I also spent years during my apprenticeship with my hands covered in various oils and now pay the price -I simply cannot touch any oil or fuel without an allergic reaction on my hands.

    protect your hands

    Hi Reverend,

it is importent to protect your hands! You are right.

I remember my grand father, painting railway wagons, his hand are very bad in the higher age. He had to spent a lot of money for medicaments.
