Seaquest (50 M ) was inbound the Welland Canal this morning from Toronto, you can see the CN Tower in background. Toronto is 26 miles from the canal.

Lady Sandals has to be the hardest working Feadship since Highlander. They were down in Saint Lucia in Feb. @ the Sandals resort in Rodney Bay. Then they work their way up the east coast stopping every other day entertaining travel agents aboard to ply the Sandals Resorts wares. They go through the St. Lawrence every spring and do Canada and the great lake cities travel agents and then work their way down the east coast again. I walked past the boat in Baltimore in December 2012 thinking to myself what in the world Is this Feadship doing here in the snow? I spoke to the mate as he was breaking the frozen water hose in three foot sections to stow and he said they had fifty or so travel agents aboard for a cocktail cruise that evening & two more weeks of entertaining before they arrive in Lauderdale by new years and then a short yard period and start all over again.

That is pretty cool. I did not know it was a former Gallant Lady. I met Jim ***** at Pier 66 when I was probably 14, so 1999? He invited my family and I on to the then Gallant Lady for a tour. I was in awe of that thing. That man was a class act.

Lady Sandals was built as Gallant Lady in 1985 @ DeVries in Aaslmeer, NL. and has quite a history as lady Kathryn for two owners that kept that name (the last being Nicholas Cage) then Victory lane (principle of Trinity Yachts) then Lady Sandals, then sold as Sea Ghost & then bought again later by the principle of Sandals resorts again for a second time. As lady Kathryn under the first owner of that name the Moroccan navy somehow confused it with a wanted yacht and riddled the forward house and upper superstructure with 50 caliber rounds! Amazing that nobody was hurt although the Moroccan navy towed the boat into Algeciras where the crew was detained for a few days for questioning. Nothing ever came of it and no apologies were made for poking rather large holes in the top part of the vessel.

    too bad

So Freedom came upbound to visit in Lake Erie, then headed back down and out? Did she at least get to Detroit (still pretty from the water). Seems a shame for someone not to see at least a couple more big lakes with her.

But I suppose at $750wk minutes are precious. And not much in protection close to fun places for a girl her size, short of Harbor Springs.

Was hoping to run alongside her just to remember how simple 40' is compared to 230.
