What browser are you using Ron?

If you're on IE, then log-out of YF and go to a page that contains very little info, such as the launch page of Google. Then, click "tools" on top of your browser window. Then click "Internet Options". Then click "delete cookies" and "delete files". This will clear your cache. Now, go back to YF. It's going to be very slow at first because you're uncookied, but after a few pages the speed will pick up. Even if this doesn't work, it's something you need to do regularly.

If this doesn't clear up the problem, I'm suspect you've got spyware or adware. This can cause a dramatic slow down in page loads. Are you running Ad-Aware on your machine? If not, follow this link, install & run EVERYTHING I've detailed...

Its not terribly slow for me its just that it is noticable from what i was used to before the upgrade....Carl

And maybe it might have something to do with my anti- virus package...because sometimes this limits me from seeing some websites and pictures. Like the Wally site....i cant see any pics on their site at all anymore.

For my firewall I downloaded ZoneAlarm - http://www.zonelabs.com

It breaks the firewall settings down into two simple brackets:

Internet Zone Security - which I have set at High

Trusted Zone Security - which I have set at Medium

I'm on a cheap dialup running IE6.0 and no problems at all with cookies or Flash or seeing images on YF or any builder's site.

Actually one of the best things one can do is to ditch Internet Explorer and use Firefox instead. Internet Explorer is known to be insecure for many reasons. Firefox is not perfect, but far better.

True. Many users are switching to Firefox, which has lesser reported bugs and security problems compared to Internet Explorer. In fact, Firefox recently released their latest version, V. 2.0.
I've found Firefox 2.0 to be working Extremely Well and at top speed when accessing YF.

For loyal IE users, there is a NEW Version now available ... Internet Explorer 7.0 which you can now download. This new version is said to included better and more robust security features.

Carl, got a glitch for you. The "View First Unread" function in the header for the thread doesn't work right. Does trigger some activity, but puts the page at the 1st post for the thread. Instead of the oldest post subsequent to the last session.

This is a very old problem. It seems to come and go randomly in my experience. Sometimes it will take me to the "first unread" like it supposed to, sometimes it simply takes me to the first post, and some other times it dumps me in the midelf of the thread...

    Hi,

I have experienced the same error/problem that Kelly and Kevin report with the non function of the go to first unread button.

I'm trying to duplicate this error, but it's working fine for me. I've got some other things I can try, but it will have to wait until later today. I'm off to a sea trial this morning...

In the meantime... to go to the last un-read post within a thread, try using the ">" (right arrow) icon located on the forum display page or on the index page. It will be located adjacent to the poster's screen name on the right side of each page, whether it's a forum page or index page. This is the tool I've always used and it works perfectly for me. If it does NOT work properly then let me know, as this will put us one step closer to identifying the bug.

    Thanks all!

Err, never mind. Sort of works as you described. But very confusing because as photos are loaded into the page your placement on the page then jumps. A lot. This may be more noticeable on dialup because it takes so long for all of the photos to load. Lots of page jumps. Thus it ends up confusing as to whether your location when the page starts loading is correct, or the location after all the photos have loaded.

    no help Kelly
