We migrated to a new server. How's your speed?

    We just vacated a 12 year old server and upgraded to new hardware with more secure software. We also need to upgrade to the latest version of XenForo but that will require a rewrite. Hoping to tackle this in 2027.

    I’ve got a couple of broken pages on JetForums but YF seems to be OK. How is your speed compared to past performance?

    A little lag from link click to page load, but not unusual here on 5G home system in the NW.

    Seems pretty slow on my end from click to load or trying to get to the home page the first time.

    I'm averaging 5 to 15 seconds from initial click to page fully loaded using Comcast cable. Some pages take longer. On my iPhone with ATT 5G, it's taking 15 to 20 seconds. It's been a battle to make this migration. Needless to say, I'm not a happy Camper.

    At this point, I'm considering switching back to our original server and seeking other hosting solutions. Need to make the decision quickly because anything that is posted today or tomorrow will go missing when we revert back to the old server with the original database.

    Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

    Initially was snappy for me but since then it takes 5 to 7 secs to load.

    It is likely that your machine was still accessing the old server and the original database. Once you cleared cookies, the DNS pointed you to the new server.

    I've been trying to connect with tech support since yesterday but they appear to be keeping bankers hours. Hold up on news, updates, etc, until I sort this out. Anything that is posted to YF (on the new server) will go missing if I switch back to the old server.

    The response time is much better today. Loaded in a second or so, reloads the same.

    the load times for me are a lot longer - this simple thread somewhat 2s load time, feeling even longer as most of the requests for images and css took more than 5 up to 10s each request
    and i got to say: i hope that this server is not really running php 5.6 which is eol for about 7 years :O

    Checking back in right now the load ties are quite long, 5 seconds on a thread, over 10 seconds going to a different forum.

    You are correct Jannick, hence the move to a new server and the latest version of PhP. We’re using a backwards compatible program (Amunity360) until we upgrade to the latest version of XenForo. The problem is 100s of hacks and modifications to our current software to create the current interface and functionality. The changes don’t migrate well to the latest versions of our software.
