The Members Rewards program has been posted. A couple of notes...

I've been battling server issues all week, but I wanted this program to start on June 1st. I've got some promotional graphics I'm working on, but I've simply run out of time. The current format will have to do for now.

I'll do a mail out tomorrow. Let's hope we can encourage more of our members to get involved... and get some lively discussions going.

Thanks to everyone for their patience!

    ~Carl

Another update... (like this is really important in your everyday lives!) :D

The Feadship goodies arrived today. Ten extra large t-shirts... but no caps. However, they did include two large hardback books on the history of Feadship. I'll try to read one before you guys get 'em!

    Question

I had been reading about a lot about your prizes. I like them and would not mind winning some of them. But I have not read anything about how do we know if we won anything or how we would go about trying to win anything besides being a member. How will all that work?

I would love to add one of those books to my library. I have a large maritime / yachting book collection. I have a great History of Sunseeker hardcover called Success By Design that goes back to the start of the company. There is a great used book shop here in chicago that constantly restocks the maritime section for me, the rest I find on good ol' ebay.

Gifts from the sponsors are great, no cost to you!

You've raised a good question... and the hardest part of putting this whole program together. It was MUCH harder than I expected. Let me explain...

Within vBulletin's software is a simple program that tracks the number of posts made by each member. After several weeks of programming, this is no longer a simple program! Matter of fact, I could probably sell this. I have used a set of variables and algorithms, somewhat similar to Google's technology to rank relevency, but it's geared toward the protocols I mandated. I'll pat myself on the back here, it's some clever coding!

This program will help narrow down each month's selection. In the end, the final decision will come down to reviewing a lot of posts.

To answer your questions most directly...

    1. Winners will be announced in the forum each month.
    2. I've added a post titled "Selection Process" to the Members Rewards page.
    3. It's not a contest. It's more like an incentive plan. ;)

I'd like ask everyone to keep in mind... this is not a "corporate-like" Publishers Clearing House program. It's simply an administrator trying to build a better community. :)

As YachtForums official maritime historian, I can think of no better person to receive this book. These books were not part of the Rewards program, and with all the info you've brought to YachtForums over the past year... I think you should have it.

    Send me your address... :)
