The "100 footer classic" is neither a Mathis nor a Trumpy yacht. Rather it is a Luders, very similar to the Sasqua, an 89 footer by Luders in 1922 pictured here. I do wish that Brian could contact his friend and ask some more questions about the picture. In particular
I'd like to know the name.

It´s quite obvious that this Luders (most significant for Luders from Stamford, DT is the s-shaped step in the deck line) is built araound 1910 to 1015. Would also be curious to hear more about this beauty...

BELLE is not a Trumpy, she was built by the New York Yacht, launch and engine Co.

Thanks for posting Belle even though she is not a Trumpy. I love to see them on the water and being used.

I have noticed both Washingtonian and Aurora II are both for sale. Any thoughts or comments on either?

    Thanks

They are very different yachts. Pre war, post war builds. Same power, different hull/bottom designs. They were both participants in the much celebrated "Great Trumpy Race" several years ago. "Washingtonian" was the winner. If you have interest in owning a Trumpy, both are beautiful yachts worthy of inspection and consideration.

Thanks. Any advantages of one hull/bottom design over the other?

Based upon the "race" results, it seems the older hull slides through the water easier at displacement speeds. The older hull design is a bit more rounded where the newer style has some flatter surfaces. As the horse power increased over the years I believe that the later hulls could be run faster and were intended to plane.

Hi Jack, Welcome to YachtForums. I'm interested to learn more about the Trumpy (note: no "H" in Trumpy) you're referring to. I'm quite confident that The yacht to which I refer in the original posting that you quote was indeed built in 1954 under Trumpy contract #368 as "Sereno III" for L. M. Miller. She was sold to Theodore Pratt in 1961 or 1962 and renamed "Treasure IV". She has had seven or so owners since and has been named "Imps III", "Mambo", "Lucky Seven", "Orion", "Mauella" and "Liberty" her current name.

Thank you for the up date, I have just about finished the refit on Liberty, upon my inquires I was told about the date of the build.
Unsure , 1954 appears to be more inline with what I have found. .
I am still trying to locate what the gear reduction might be . The power is a pair of 671's
I feal the props are not what they should be .
Any info would be greatly appreciated .
    Thanks,
    Jack

I just sent an email to Liberty's last owner. Perhaps he will respond and recall her gear reduction ratio and I can report here. I last saw "Liberty" in Stuart FL this past January 2nd, 2015. She was undergoing some wood work and varnishing. I snapped these photos that day: liberty.jpg liberty2.jpg

There is a line drawing of the 58 Cruiser in the Robert Tolf book about Trumpy. Perhaps you can find someone with that book to let you have a look. It may perhaps be copyright material, so some caution is advisable. You may also reach out to Sigrid Trumpy of Maryland Hall in Annapolis. She is coordinating an exhibit there. I'm sure she has a lot of the old drawings and memorabilia.
