former owner I can confirm that this is the Mettamar built 1930 for RE Olds. I owned this fine boat from 1963 to 1972. Sadly, I don't know her fate since then. The Mettamar was commandeered by the Navy in WWII and served as a patrol training vessel during the war. She was originally built as 92', but Olds had a fantail added by DeFoe in the mid-30's to reach 100'. I spent quite a bit of time restoring the mahagony superstructure and interior, also mahogany and walnut panels. The original Hill diesels were replaced by GM 6-71's by the Navy. She had 5 staterooms, main salon, dining salon, pilot house, and sizeable crew qtrs. One of the fine examples of yachts by NYYL&E. John Huffman Jacksonville, FL
Tradition takes a bow and reminds us of sheer beauty. Long live the forepeak! Death to butterknife bows... Who's aesthetically acceptable, perfectly proportioned peak is this...?
