That sure is an ugly boat, but it is a yacht and the purpose of a yacht, is to give the owner pleasure.

Surely you must know that a hawse pipe goes all the way up from the anchor to the windlass way above the waterline, usually on deck.

    ferry

It seems to me that this boat is ferry. The external design in this case is not really important. Interior is designed to accommodate 40-50 passengers, cruising speed is about 12-15 knots. Big window openings on the sides are for passengers. Usually, so small ferries are using in suburban areas with good public transportation like Istanbul, New York City, Moscow ,etc.

Can anyone make out the name, the first 3 letters appear to be MAY..Are you sure it is not a commercial boat. Seems to me to be a vehicular passenger ferry. Ramp on the stern, large vehicle deck, passenger deck above, bridge above that. The low anchor is confusing, right in the middle of any bow wake, especially as the bow seems to indicate a high speed vessel. Bugger, back to google to see if I can find it, didn't appear under 'ugly yacht' lol, and that A/C unit appears very commercial.

    ferry

I am not agree that this is vehicle ferry.Compare the size of the door and ramp. They are the same narrow. Also cars do not need windows.

IF it's a ferry it would be a passenger ferry. My guess would be that it's probably some sort of floating disco though. The thought of it getting into anything but the calmest waters is disturbing. That anchor is awefully close to the waterline, the deck looks low and accessable to washover and it looks like portholes barely above the waterline. No matter what the purpose I'm stuck on the question of WHAT WERE THEY THINKING. I just pray that its not a private yacht.

I do not believe that it was a vehicle ferry. The antique bow design is reminiscent of old intra-coastal passenger ferries used around Istanbul. My guess would be that they brought it back from the scrap-yard with a few of their own additions :).

They probably use it for daily tours around the city. It is definitely not a private yacht. I hope the Navy will use it for ship-to-ship missile tests.

I have seen a presentation of the boat recently. Looks like she is purpose built as a party/cruise boat for the Bosphorus. I don't have an idea about the hull, but the interior is new and they market it as the only superyacht for charter in the Bosphorus.

C'mon now. Put a locomotive in front, a dining car behind, and you would be totally smitten with it's Amtrakish beauty.
