The Wally 70 has been highly successful since its dynamic introduction to the yacht world in 2005. Ever popular, stylish, new and different are all things you can consider about the 2005 'Lunch Boat' and its deritives in the form of the Red Wally 70 open and also the silver and black 70's. Wally has decided to continue with this ever popular proven design and even play on the design more. They are making some structural modifications for the most part. Some of these modifications include: :A lower and sleeker laminated-glass superstucture. :The dispense of the bow extention that carries the anchor and replace with a pivoting anchor. She will anchor from the bottom of the bow like other Wallys. :The glass superstructure after door will open up vertically giving more free space. The First of these modified 70's will be delievered in September of this year according to Wally. Thanks AMG, I did not see it but i would have eventually because i am here going through the whole Wally site. They updated it well yesterday and today.
Update: Wally 70 Build Progress More news from the first unit of the Wally 70'. The website states that the unit is going well and on schedule. With most of the fitting out of the interiors almost complete, they are working on the exterior of the vessel. The laying of the teak, instalation of the glass on the saloon house and painting there after. Trials are set for August and delievery for late August to early September as planned earlier. For more on this evolving model see here: http://www.*********/jumpCh.asp?idChannel=26&idNews=511&idLang=IT&attivo=9&idUser=0
The first unit of the ever evolving Wallypower 70' has been launched successfully with no hitches. Now that she is in the water the focus will be turned to the upcomming seatrials. After this, she will be delivered and then head to the 2007 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). From the Wally website.
All of the changes seem to improve the design. The older model had a kind of dead space forward the helm, inside, which could be awkwardly accessed. It was flat with a mat on to sit or lay on. Now the space is far better used for outside seating. Last year the red 70 in Monaco had very obvious large round filling outline showing through the paint on the port side front pillar. I hope the build quality has improved.
You are not thinking of the recessed lantern...? From this angle you see it in the forward pillar, but from aside it looked strange.
No, it was a defect. Below the lantern. Filler not sanded down sufficiently and then painted over in black so you could see all the edges of it. I pointed it out to the Wally salesman as we walked from the 47 back past the 70 and he acknowledged and excused it by saying it was an early yacht and later builds would be better done Not a good advert for the company to show (can't imagine blemishes like that on a car at Geneva show for example) but I guess nobody noticed much although I spotted it from many metres away. I have a good eye for paint and bodywork since I'm experienced working in the car bodywork field.
Hi, I think you found it, but it's bigger than that one part. In the photo you can make out the edge where the dark shadow ends, which I think you are refferring to. From there look up and to the left, there is another edge. If it is the same bit I was looking at you can see a jagged circle about that diamiter.
If for some reason you all are talking about the triangular feature in the last photo, that is the Portside (red) navigational light.
Apparently the first unit of the new Wallypower 70 series is called Lau Lau. Gabe has a pic on his website. She is being featured at the 2007 Monaco Yacht Show (MYS).
Lau Lau There is a revision of the Lau Lau on the Wally website. It just states the differences between her and the initial Wallypower 70. As we well know, the Lau Lau represents a modification in the Wallypower 70 model. Here is the link: http://www.*********/jumpCh.asp?idChannel=26&idNews=534&idLang=IT&attivo=10&idUser=0
New pix Plenty of pictures of the new 70' wallypower on the Wally website... ... and to those who do not like it... go home SimonB
Dear Simon, A simple Google search resulted in numerous forum postings... by you... promoting Wally. This "anomaly" led me to an IP investigation. Now that *I* know who you are, it's time to address this issue.... Engaging in self-promotion as a 3rd party borders on FRAUD. Therefore, the Wally forums are being closed to public viewing and your listing on the front page is being removed. Carl Camper, Publisher www.YachtForums.com
