    Alfamarine ?

Speaking of awards: In a recent Yachts International issue there was a report about some European Yacht Trophies given out at Cannes for production designs.

One of these was the Alfamarine 78, a sport yacht -

Striking yacht, naturally I am curious about the designer. But that is not given on the Alfamarine web site. Nor did my Internet searches turn up anything. Would any of you know who should get credit for the exterior styling on the Alfamarine 78?

    Thank you,
    Kelly Cook

Always a fun topic YachtLuver. But now that we are another 2 years down the channel, I think it deserves a fresh new thread? ;)

Actually, we had two separate threads (based on years), but I'm not sure what happened to them. I think one of them was removed. I do recall one thing... the lack of interest the threads received. In both cases, they received very few views.

Personally, I find the awards interesting, but mostly to read between the lines as to why certain nominees were chosen. Suffice to say, there's more at stake here then design or engineering excellence. There's a little marketing in the mix too. On that note, I have little interest in the awards programs put on by any of the magazines. There are VERY few writers qualified to pass judgment and certain criteria should be established before one is allowed to become an editor, or writer in the yachting industry. Or in this case... a judge.

Show me someone who has been involved in the design, engineering and building of yachts. Or... a captain or engineer who has worked on a variety of vessels. Show me someone who will roll-up their sleeves, get down on their knees and scrub a bilge with me. That's who I want to talk to. That's who I want to learn from. I call these folks... YF members.

From the 2005 page I would name the Lazzarra Quad 75 as having the most innovative power.

Interesting that it burns 15gph less at WOT than at cruise. Maybe that means there is less hull in the water?

Have you all seen Amevi's interiors, the colours and textures are really 'cool', literally.

There are also the sailyachts there too: Maltese Falcon, YII, Ganesha, Zulu, Kokomo, Rosehearty, Pink Gin, Mystere and Heritage. These are all 36M+ hulls... really beautiful stuff.

The 23-32M section was a little more ordinary than I would have anticipated (in my naivety). Two entries from Northern Marine? No Vision 68' from Horizon?

I'm not sure what this list is really representative of - other than the obvious, those that were nominated.
