    I know, I didn't say that this vessel reminded me of Blood Baron.
    Just that the type of accident did.

    Interesting videos on the shipyard's website. One launch looks like it's going to do the Northern Roll. Actually, with the haul-out gear shown, every haul and launch would be a nail-biter.

    You can say that again!
    And it's reasonable to guess that they cherry picked the best efforts, for publishing on their website.
    I don't dare thinking how their friday afternoon launches and haul-out can look like! :eek:

    I would not have been stupid enough to let them try to haul me. Not on those skinny (wood on wood) rails.

    I liked better the travel lifts that wade out 1/8 mile to pick you up.

    Exactly my thought after seeing the yard website video.
    I wouldn't want to use that system for a 70 footer, let alone a 70m beast!

    Two years ago, after my 42' boat was put back in the water on the yard's Travel-Lift a day or so latter they hauled a similar 42' boat and the aft sling broke . Dropping the boat on the concrete slab from 6' or so in the air. Nearly killing the yard worker getting ready to power wash the bottom.
    The boat was done. It pushed the props,struts, keel up into the boat.

    It could have been my boat.
    The owner of the dropped boat was present so I was told, and well pissed off and in shock at the same time.

    The lift never really looked bad to me, nor the slings either. But now I know, if the slings are just slightly weathered and grey don't let the yard use them on your boat. they should be clean and still have the factory die-color to the sling. Salt water and sun breaks them down and they loose their strength.
