Fireman. Inside is no problem, the issue is in the inlet itself. When you pass near the inlet in the ICW just don't cut the corner follow the markers but no change there Wireless. You re welcome. Check the latest LNTM when you get there and don't hesitate to call either towboatUS or seatow on 16 for local knowledge Speaking of issues in Florida I just read that the icw near the recently dredged section at bakers haulover are once again of station. Or the shal has rebuilt into the channel. Same thing call the local tow for up to date info
Pascal, Thank you for relaying the LNM info regarding the positioning of the two marks defining the shallows at St Augustine. Ive plotted them in my Garmin Systems. From their positioning I assume them to be RED. Can you confirm this for me? I've posted the picture of the Viking at the helm as a reminder to the crew to be ever vigilant! Regards, Peter
i'm not sure.. I dont' have the LNM in front of me. regardless, I would really suggest that you call either Sea Tow St Aug or TowboatUS st Aug on ch 16 and get local knowledge prior to coming in. i'd also try to time arrival at the inlet with high tide.
I've joined Sea Tow just before leaving home expressly for the privilege of being able to call. My departure from Old Bahama Bay is planned to put me at the St Augustine sea buoy at 09:00. two housr before high water at St Augustine beach . Regards Peter
Good Morning Bill, I've just fueled at Old Bahama Bay. Currently blowing N to NE 15k with the odd higher gust here. Sea still low at 2-3'. Have decided to plan on Jacksonville in case the wind picks up. Can always work my way back downstream if the boss is set on doing the old city. either way I plan on seeing St Augustine, just might be in a car.
Thanks Tom, Ended up with my own pictures of St Augustine Light, though none as nice as yours. Arrived off of St Augustine a week ago Sunday in glorious weather. Calm with no sea and except for the heavy smoke blanketing the coast, perfect conditions. Found the approach to be straightforward and well marked. The Municipal Marina gets good marks from me and the city itself is exceptionally beautiful. The only negative I had was the CBP officer at the Airport. He was the most unpleasant officer I've dealt with anywhere in the world. Fortunately everyone else we met made up for his attitude. In Georgia now heading North on ICW. More beautiful scenery around every bend.
Georgia in June. Hmmm.... So how are those man-eating flies? Only place I know as bad is coming in Georgetown Inlet and up here on Fire Island. my last time through there at this time of year, a lower helm station was all that saved what's left of my sanity. Those thing attack in hordes and take chunks.
