There is a quite different view of what constitutes fireproof these days as Asbestos is no longer allowed to be used un encapsulated.

I don't think it was not all about Asbestos.
I tried to find the page but failed; Remember reading something about a special wood piano that would not burn even with gas thrown on it.

No it was the other way around. The builders wanted to design a fire roof interior and did everything to use non flammable materials

Except the grand pianos which they didn't want to compromise on.

The article is a more believable piece, citing $ 50 to $ 60 K a month upkeep whereas the video stated $ 5 to $ 600K per month.... I almost choked.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the anchor reading the copy misread the report.

Wow, did my thread get moved, or did I accidentally start here in the yachtclub section?

Sorry, I just noticed this now.

The previous owner (E.C. of NJ) was a client of mine. At the time, he also owned The Other Woman, the 192' Australian sailing yacht. He tried selling the SS United States and I had the listing on her for a while. Obviously I did not succeed in the sale, but I have a great framed print of her hanging in my office that was a gift from Mr. C.

Yes, it was moved out of the General Yachting Discussion... SSUS isn't actually a yacht, hence the move. :)

Given the size of some of the "yachts" today, I figured I'd give it a shot ;)
