    Thanks. My reply was agreeing that I too backflush using barnacle buster.

    Yes. My use of the word warm meant more bacteria.

    With the right combination of fittings and valves (Groco SSC, for example), flushing can be fairly simple. Snap on a freshwater hose, switch the valves, flush. Or snap on a transfer pump hose, switch the valves, flush with Barnacle Buster. Two minutes work to connect/disconnect. Maybe a bit extra to swap the strainer basket, clean the old one afterwards at your leisure (or just soak it clean).
