Heart of Glass She's a 1963 Roamer Riviera 36 (AL) - belonging to a longtime CCR Club member -- 'bout time she got her 15 minutes of fame. Especially, as Bill made a pretty spectacular modification to the hull. Who's sees what I mean? Cheers! Eric
Oldie but goodie Here's how the original 35 Roamer designed by Robert Linn (http://www.geocities.com/alloyed2sea/History.html) looked back in 1956-7 before Chris Craft re-designed it. For more details see here: http://www.geocities.com/alloyed2sea/Express_35_Linn_Era.html
design impetus and random thoughts I'm enjoying the pictures. I am intrigued with the design of the Offshore 38. I am really drawn to the pilothouse design. It makes me want to be in there, right now! I'm wondering what the idea was behind that design. Why did they build such a quirky boat? Was it aimed at the WW2 PT boat crowd? If so, that's a limited audience. Was it intended to be a work boat? Just makes me wonder..... I really would like to get my hands on a 35' Fisherman. Wow, that's a beauty. And it is just what I need. I suspect that there are still a couple of them out there someplace. If they stayed in the great lakes then they are probably still solid. Finally, I almost broke my neck the morning of 8 July. I was heading south on US31 just coming up on the bridge in Grand Haven when a Roamer passed me heading north on 31. It looked like he just came up from the Fruitport exit. This was a early cruiser which looked to be a 35 being pulled by a pick-up truck. I wasn't aware of a Roamer narrow enough to be trailered. I didn't get much more of a look at it. I checked the trailer laws and it looks like 8 and a half feet is the max in MI. Have a nice day Steve
