Charter brokers should use on all their materials a stamp that read "We do not charter any French Flag yacht", maybe they´ll react to that.

Guys, with all due respect, calm down a small bit, will ya?

One might infer from reading this thread this here is the first ever delay in accident investigation reports on a high-profile case. And we definitely wouldn't want our quality forums to carry such a foul misinformation.

I would bet good hard cash all responsible spent more of this delay time reading books ("marine accident investigations for dummies", anyone?), celebrating Christmas, tasting vine and plain old scratching their heads in a generic "wtf...?" fashion then they did scheming and plotting a cover-up.

At least we could still harbor hopes for slightly more... detailed report then what we get for sunken nuclear subs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqDqvKYDv9M

It appears the French will release the report of the investigation "next week" - "if there is no comment or objection ..."

The fog surrounding this entire event stands in stark contrast to the very public hearing going on at the moment to discover the roots of the Bounty debacle.

In other works they are giving the parties involved, who have reviewed the "final report" opportunity for a last objection and appeal for further review. So everyone is fairly given notice...

I suppose, knowing the French, it will be very accurate and as close to the truth as possible in a diplomatic fashion... meaning whatever you read into it.

So who are the likely criminals? The builder, the captain, the engineer who did not shut the doors, the owner for setting up an insurance scam or the MCA surveyor?

I did not mean to be rude to you, I am sorry about that.
I have experiences that guide me and I have survived unpleasant times from f book.
I noticed the leaving faceboot and left immediately without touching a thing.

Hard to say really - a simple inferior product, back with inferior crew

inferior product??? Were still guessing on much. Are you leaning on bad design for exhaust closing system or bad hull side doors?

I am going to hazard a guess that the Greeks are calling it a criminal investigation in an effort to recoup search and rescue costs. Be it crew or shipyard- they are going to try and go after somebody.

    Captainbadge,
Welcome, this seems to be your first post. And wouldn't be surprised with that statement either. We have kind of the same problem downunder with the sailors getting into a spot of bother and the Navy has to help out... training.

rcrapps, my guess is an inferior product started the whole thing, and for all we know there was a crew member having a smoke with the tender door open  (I can feel it in my waters). Cheers

    From the report:

As no record or alarm report or written log had been saved, the sequence of events before the salvage operation was drawn up from the interviews of the crew members and of the DPA.

It took 8 hours to sink, but the captain failed to write up the LOG or take it off the boat, but had time to put on his survival suit !!

    No emergency bilge pumps activated.

The report after 12 months is a total sham. No information at all from interviews. Beamer should be reprimanded
