Pendennis expanding Pendinnis expansion plans are underway at the moment at the UK facility. Here is an exerpt from the Pendennis site. http://www.*************
Updates to the Pendennis website Pendennis seems to have tweaked and optimized their website, the layout is slightly different and the PR is better than before. A step in the right direction I might say. You may find some information there on their current projects such as the Ron Holland designed 150-foot Ketch, the Phamtom 45-meter, "Nostromo", Barraduca 105'. A nice Pendennis picture of "Steel"...
Pendennis acquires Devonport yachts Pendennis expands with the acqusitaion of Devonport Yachts Limited Pendennis has started the new decade on a high note with the acquisition of Devonport Yachts Ltd (owner of the DEVONPORT superyacht brand), which will now be established as a partner company to Pendennis with its head office in Falmouth. The agreement was announced at 09:00 on 23rd February 2010. Joint Managing Director of Pendennis, Mike Carr, commented on this new chapter in the success of this growing UK superyacht business: "This acquisition provides the group with a powerful brand with which to penetrate the 60m+ new build and refit markets and to continue to develop our position as a leading international superyacht business. Over our 20+ year history, we have established Pendennis as a leading brand for refit and new build of superyachts up to 60m whilst at the same time developing jobs and facilities in Falmouth. Placing the DEVONPORT brand and Devonport Yachts Ltd’s other assets within the group will expand our portfolio and help accelerate plans to further develop Falmouth as the UK’s premier superyacht centre of excellence.” Devonport Yachts Ltd will continue as a separate business with Stephen Hills as Managing Director. Stephen, who has years of experience in the large yacht sector from his time running the DEVONPORT yacht business under the ownership of Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited, commented: “This is a great opportunity to continue to develop the UK’s large superyacht capability and realise the potential which exists in the South West of England. There are major synergies within the two businesses which will serve to continue and further strengthen the DEVONPORT superyacht brand, offering a UK service for very large bespoke new build and refit projects. Our immediate priority is to finalise the new operating arrangements for Devonport Yachts Ltd, after which we will be running a 23rd February 2010 series of yard visits where we will explain in detail the many advantages of the new DEVONPORT yachts business based in Falmouth.” This acquisition will be a boost to the local economy, enabling Pendennis’ already healthy order book to be supplemented with the 60m+ sector. Falmouth has seen an increase in visiting large yachts over the last few years and with its historic port and beautiful coastline is well placed to develop a strong superyacht centre for Northern Europe. As part of this deal, Pendennis is pleased to announce that Ernesto Bertarelli (Owner of, two times winner of the America’s Cup, Team Alinghi) will become a minority shareholder in the business. *** http://www.*************
A few nice rolling pics of "Steel" on the Pendennis website... http://www.*************/custom-yachts/custom-portfolio/steel.php
well "steel" is still here, I can actually see her from where I am now but I am just too far away to take quality photos.
The scuttlebutt news I got secondhand was that she would do the season and return to Pendennis for repair as it was not urgent. Still, its not pretty cruising in a bent boat.
C'mon - details! If she got "rammed", is "bent" and still able to cross the Atlantic to return for repairs, sounds like a story to be shared. Judy

Fish - thanks for the link. Of course anything you ever wanted to know about boats would be: on YF! But, not much detail. It sounds like in the battle of aluminum vs steel, the aluminum won Can anyone explain? On the YF link, there was a post referring to the Altamar 64 accident which I couldn't find, but that led me to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtsGlLME9mg Holy crap! Judy
The rigs for "Christopher" and the B105 arrived at Pendennis recently to be installed on the respective boats. Of course the B105 is in the water already. Christopher is to be completed by early 2011.
"Christopher" is on the verge of delivery. Her rig is of course installed and completed. This Ron Holland pic depicts...
The Feadship yacht we knew as "Masquerade of Sole" is now back out from refit after being sold. Her new name is "A2" after having a lengthy refit of over a year at Pendennis. She left Pendennis in early July. Below pics show her current state as A2 vs as Masquerade of Sole
Pendennis gets okay to expand. Pendennis Shipyard has announced that it has received approval from Cornwall Council in the UK for its marine-based development plans.
