We also had Oceanco's "Ona" at the location. We also saw the classic beauty "Midnight Sun" anchored in the bay.
We left Fiskardo for Lefkas Island and came accross this nice sail yacht "Mariposa Za" on the way. We spent the night at Sivota bay, which was very nicely protected. There were several sailboats and small motor yachts at anchor and along the jetty. The place was also full of restaurants to serve these sailors.
We left Lefkada for Paxos and on the way we came across several ferries, as well as some dolphins playing in our wake.
We anchored on the east side of Anti Paxos for a swim and lunch. This bay had really crystal clear waters. Although on the northern tip there are the famous beaches of Vrika and Voutoumi, we prefered to stay away from the crowds. Still we had this Mangusta next to us.
There were some oldish motor yachts anchored near the popular beaches. The 1st of is "Leocrie II", built by CRN in 1975 and the 2nd one was "Radial" built by Astilerros Zamacona in 1985.
For someone like me, from the business side of yachting, it's absolutely fantastic to see these yachts being put to good use, and not just sitting in a marina as a floating appartment / cocktailbar. Keep up the good work, Nilo! PS, can you PM me the GPS coordinates of that sunken wallet?
Nilo, Great pictures and info of your travels; thanks for taking the time and effort to share your journeys with us.
i am very pleased that you are enjoying the thread, we have the saying in turkish "joys multiple if you share it".
Dear Nilo Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us. Your photos have brought back good memories of Santorini and the Corinth Channel. Your photos are always a delight. I see that Phoebe is here in Mallorca.
We left Anti Paxos and moved to Paxos for spending the night. Paxos is famous with its olive oil. Once I've head a myth that Harrrods used to specifically sell olive oil from this tiny island as a prime product. There is a long islet on the front side of the port, which gives a very good shelter. CBI Navi Baloo was staanding at the anchor there together with some sailboats. On the far side "Rio Rita" has anchored with a mooring line to shore. I initially tried to approach and enter the port from this side, but then did not feel comfortable when I see that there could be shallows. I got out and took the northern enterence, where also the ferries berths.
I took some more pictures of "Baloo", because she is more or less the same size as the 110 footer I am trying to develop. I especially wanted to comprehand how the seating area in front of the pilot house would look and also to have a better understanding of the height for the whole boat. Here are these pictures; eventually I am hoping to achive a better result with 110.
During the spring of 2009 I have visited the yard of Contest at Medemblik and I was impressed with their quality. That is why I took this funny close up. In the following pictures there are several sailboats, including an older Jongert. The islet really acts as a perfect breakwater and protection for the jetty.
