News: Lurssen Launches 74M Superyacht "Aurora"

German custom superyacht manufacturer Lurssen splashed their latest yacht over the weekend. This time around there is no secret in knowing the name of this yacht. The nameplates showcase the yacht's final name as "Aurora". This is the same yacht that was known to the world as Project 'Thor' but interestingly if you have a look at the earlier renderings for Thor it is easy to see that many changes were made during construction.

The 74-meter project was first commissioned back in early 2014 through a management company with an anticipated delivery back in 2016 but obviously that didn't occur. Aurora has her design lines penned by Winch Design. The interior is also styled by the British-based design firm. There isn't a whole lot known about the final incarnation of this yacht but we know she has a 74-meter LOA with a beam of around 13.2-meters and a draft of 3.75-meters. Top speed is said to be in the region of 18-knots with a fast cruising speed of 16-knots but this has not been confirmed. Guest capacity is for 12 and based on the number of vertical windows on the forward main deck it would be reasonable to assume that some of those guest accommodations are in this position. The master is likely on the forward portion of the upper deck just aft of the bow. Delivery of Aurora should be later this year -YF will keep you informed-.
