  1. First Horizon Yachts FD85 Hull Nearing Completion
Horizon Yacht’s newest design is soon going to become reality as it is presently nearing completion. The FD85 which was unveiled and garnered a lot of attention in the press last year is a different approach for Horizon Yachts. It is the start of a Fast Displacement series for this yard and this one was penned by Cor D. Rover. As suggested by Horizon this yacht was slated to debut in the Spring of 2016 and appears that this timeline should be met.
  2. As said before this is a different line for Horizon Yachts but they are pursuing it with passion and making it their own. In published photos, the first hull of the FD85 series has been seen in the test tank to ensure all is right with the hull before they move her into deeper water at a later date. Construction is progressing well with the yacht nearly 90-percent completed. The first hull boasts the ability to sleep ten guests in a master suite and four double cabins on the lower deck. Personal configurations should be available for future hulls in the series.
  3. The master is up front and full beam using expansive windows sculpted by Cor D. Rover. Usually on a yacht this size, the space devoted to the aft main deck isn’t very generous. On the FD85 large furniture pieces can be arranged easily to create a very comfortable spot to overlook the transom or even eat al-fresco if desired. The sundeck is also fairly spacious too once the tenders are put in the water. The deck can be transformed into a relaxing oasis with numerous loungers stretched out to accommodate most of the guest complement onboard. Just forward of this area is the true al-fresco dining area fully kitted-out to host all ten guests. “For the new Horizon FD85, we specifically chose to focus on a hull form that affords flexible cruise speeds without compromising performance,” said Horizon Yachts CEO, John Lu.“We also wanted this new model to incorporate modern exterior styling, tremendous interior volume, and innovative features. Cor and his team were the perfect fit for collaborating with Horizon’s in-house teams, and together we have developed an advanced fast displacement yacht that blends cutting-edge design with truly usable living and entertaining spaces comparable to most 100-foot plus yachts.”
