Damen Yachting announced this morning that they have signed a contract to build a 72-meter Hybrid Explorer yacht. It is a custom build and will be ready for delivery by 2024. Michael Leach design was selected to design both the exterior and interior of this new yacht for the owner. Below we get a glimpse at what the vessel will look like in the future. At this stage no other renderings have been provided by Damen Yachting.

Internally the yacht will have sizable volumes boasting a comfortable interior value worth 1,440 GT. Given where the vessel is likely to travel in the future, the hybrid propulsion will help with environmental sensitivity as well as efficiency overall of the vessel. In Hybrid, the system uses main engines and hybrid PTI/PTO electrical drives that can propel the yacht up to 8-knots. Large battery stores can ensure silent ops over night while at anchor or even in port/marina stays. The yacht appears to carry a centerline swimming pool on the aft upper deck and on either side of it is space to carry the 72-meter yacht's two main tenders, a 13-meter exploration rib and a 9-meter utility landing craft. This project is aimed at being a fully custom one-off and really does not look like anything they have built before.
