  1. Abeking & Rasmussen Update
German custom superyacht builder Abeking & Rasmussen (A&R) are updating the industry on what they have going on at their facilities. Notably, their largest yacht, the 118.2-meter Project 6507 is in the latter outfitting stages of build and is set to launch not too long from now with delivery in 2022. The yard has not divulged alot of information regarding this project. French designer Joseph Dirand has penned both the exterior and interior in collaboration with A&R. With the experienced garnered from the installation of the Neptune Lounge aboard the 74.5-meter "Elandess", the feature is expected to be done onboard hull 6507 as well. A submarine is anticipated to be part of the armada of toys onboard and one can expect a large pool.
  2. Project 6507 will not be the largest superyacht built by A&R after the yard signed an even larger 120-plus meter superyacht over the Summer months. The exact length is still a mystery as well as details surrounding the new project. The yard also updates on its refit work. So far this year 9 refits have arrived at the shipyard, some new clients included and there are more refit projects to follow soon. Outside of yachting, the yard has contracts too. These include three Multi Purpose Vessels with more than 90-meters LOA each. There is also a contract for two mine hunting vessels for the Indonesian Navy. These next generation of mine hunting vessels is 62-meters long and made of high-strength and non-magnetic steel produced using an innovative laser welding process. A&R is a versatile company not only focusing on custom superyacht construction. "Working on a range of projects and technologies for different clients and purposes has always been a strength of Abeking & Rasmussen", explains Matthias Hellmann, CFO. "Besides certain synergies we always found it very helpful to gain expertise with technologies in one market before these things where even asked for in other markets."
