The SuRi will carry an A-Star helicopter, 30 foot custom-made aluminum amphibious landing craft with bow ramp, hand-made 60 knot classic varnished mahogany sport boat, an assortment of ATVs, jet ski, sail boats, kayaks, rowing shells; and a 37 foot 3 X 4 stroke 300hp powered Intrepid to ferry here guests. ...and I am sure that I have missed some things.
wow that sounds like quite the collection. Does the owner order the toys on his own or do you buy them and supply them when the boat is delivered?
S/S Suri update Here are some nice high resolution pics of the Suri nearing completion on Stan's website: http://www.yachtescortships.com/images/img_1044_2.jpg http://www.yachtescortships.com/images/img_1057.jpg
I see on the website that the 205 footer bears the name 'Suri II.' Is this any indication that the Suri's life for shadowing JeMaSa will be short lived? http://www.yachtescortships.com/images/205yes.jpg
The owner of SuRi has retained YES to design a larger conversion which would offer all of the capabilities of a yacht escort ship while providing every possible yacht option to make her a truly stand alone vessel - all to yacht quality standards and full IACS Class (a YES exclusive among shadow builders). At 220 feet, she would offer a home-sized owner's suite with sitting room and separate heads in addition to 5 generous ensuite guest accommodations, full gymnasium, beauty salon, massage room, steam & sauna rooms. Add to that the massive hangar and toy carrying capacity; and you have everything one could want in a in the largest of yachts. Thank you for sharing the pictures as I have been remiss in my communications with the YF membership. I hope you noticed the wonderful hull fairing and paint giving SuRi a fine yacht finish, another YES first. Maybe I can talk Carl into featuring some before and after pictures though I understand we must tread lightly in the area of self-promotion.
I like the idea of the before and after pics as well but that will be a matter for you and Carl to discuss to establish its possible fruition or not in keeping with his regulations.
A slightly re-done YES website, the colours have change for sure. http://www.yachtescortships.com/index.html By the way, any news on the S/S Suri?
Suri Delivered! Suri has been delivered to the apparently happy owner and is enroute New Zealand via Los Angeles from Seattle. She raised quite a stir in Seattle after she got out of the shipyard a month ago and has been outfitting and provisioning by the crew. Not only is she quite remarkable due to her size, the heli deck with heli on board garnered much attention, and to top it off; with the name Suri blazened across the transom and house everyone imagined that Tom Cruise must surely be in town. Many calls from the local media looking for celeb sitings. Snowed heavily yesterday (3/28) in Seattle so we are anxious to finish the Pacific Provider by the end of April so we can close down the cold, wet and windy operations in the Pac NW and move our team back to the Gulf.
SuRi in Seattle I was stopped on the Ballard Bridge (a draw bridge in Seattle) and saw the SuRi looking rather conspicuous among the fishing vessels at Fishermen's terminal. It sounds like at least a few people are anxious to see her. She's beautiful! edit: this is my first post to this forum and I botched the attached photo! uggh. I'll try it again. I apologize for the multiple posts.
Thank you for the kind words, Nevak. And to Yachtluver, we are working on some photos to share with the YF members.
Nevak - great photo. I never had a chance to stop on the bridge to get that shot. Can you email the hi-res picture to me? Thank you, Stan
Nice shot indeed. Just one question lingers...why is the chopper down there? I thought that it would be on the roof of the hanger?
The crew was loading and provisioning the SuRI for her transit down to Los Angeles and on to New Zealand. The helicopter is only up on the heli deck for flight operations when owner and guests are embarked. For transits the helicopter is safely (and dryly) stored inside the hanger. It was on the main aft deck while all of the other toys (hover craft, dune buggy, StanCraft mahogany speedster, sail boats, jets skis, landing craft, etc., were loaded into the hangar and secured for sea ahead of the chopper. That is the most important function of the hangar - protection of all the tenders, toys and helicopter while making sea passages.
Stan, I need some more info from you and emailed you a few days ago, but have not heard back. Go ahead and email me and we'll see if we can connect. Kevan
SuRi in Marina Del Rey Saturday Apr 5 This big beautiful ship made it's way to the gas station. Caused a lot of buzz, unloading a tender and putting the chopper back together. Rumors are flying
