    Might also be an improved look if you also put this on the doors behind the chair.

    Soapy ammonia as needed, scrub lightly across the grain so you don't remove wood pulp and get a raised grain. If you want to bring out more grain, very light oil on a rag. Oil attracts and holds dirt however.

    Varnish, hard sealers and heavy oils are a pain to keep up. Though varnish really looks nice on the toe rail, eyebrows and vertical surfaces.
