    I did look into some of the other core products, but most come in 4x8 sheets, shipping cost doubles the price!! the hatch I made is completely covered with glass,so for now will have to due.
    Your suggestion is well taken and appreciated.

    Wefco seems to price white and gray extrusions at a premium to black, perhaps due to the fact that marine market items are less than 10% of their production and I would guess that most of their total production is black?

    That be as it were, I can confirm that black is $5/ft and white or gray are priced at $7/ft. I'm afraid the purist in me takes over sometimes, so I'll splurge to replicate OEM in some areas of a restoration. (it all started during my sordid youth in the 60's when instead of building a '57 Chevy street rod like the other guys I opted to restore a Jag XK 120 as a Concours d' Elegance show car - little did I know I had opened Pandora's Box).

    From you are saying, you sound alot like myself, restoration of some type of project is in our blood. Sometimes I feel dam, I'm getting to old for this!!!!.

    Iron man is getting the model# from that other company I told you about, said it matched perfect. I still have a long way to go before rub rail. This West system epoxy is going to take me to the cleaner lol.

    Just pull another coat on the hatch covers.

    out board dory

    Does anyone have information and pictures of a Chris Craft dory set up for an outboard motor. I am looking a such a boat and thinking about an offer on it. I have been watching what you all are doing with the restorations and have got the bug. I have been driving past this particular boat sitting on a trailer for the past 15 years and finally stopped to see if the boat was for sale. I had to leave a note on the door and am waiting for a reply. The boat has an outboard transom with a 150 mounted on it.

    Ironman.... Couple of questions for you, How many qts. of perfection did you use, did you use it on the interior also.

    Did you happen to get that model# for the rub rails?

    I know I was MIA for a couple weeks, hope your just enjoying the boat and everything is well, haven't heard back from you now.

    My buddy just sold his 1976 about two weeks ago. He had it for almost 10 years and we put well over 1500 hours on it, it was a great little boat. It wasn't the greatest following sea boat but overall it rode pretty well. 22 knot cruise and a 30 knot top end with a 150 Etec on the back.

    Admin I know the pictures are supposed to be under a certain size, if they need to be removed due to size I will take them down. Not sure how to make them smaller on photobucket.

    Captain Cabo, I have been looking at that CA outboard dory for a while on YT. I would have purchased it if it was on the east coast, as I am sure many would have.

    Ed - crazy busy summer, busier than usual! I have been having fun with my family on the boat. My 6 year old loves to take "long rides" and I am happy to oblige!

    I do have the model number of the rub rail and will get that to you tomorrow (I do know you asked about that a while back, you have my apologies).

    I used:
    Flag Blue perfection on the hull - 1 qt per coat x 3 coats.
    Oyster white perfection on the topside - 1/2 qt per coat x 3 coats
    Sundown buff brightside on the deck - 1/3 qt per coat x 3 coats
    (Note that each was thinned by ~10% v/v)

    Rub rail

    Barbour plastics: F843 black flexible rub rail. I did not use the T track - just worked the rail around the perimeter and secured with pop rivets from the bottom. I did cut relief notches around the corners and bow, but not all the way through so there is one continuous piece around the perimeter. The seam is at the stern and I did reuse the three stainless steel corner reinforcement pieces and the trim peace to cover the seam. I will take some pics when I get a chance.

    Thanks Charlie.....great info, How is the boat hope your enjoying you labor. I'm almost ready to start priming mine, all glass work on floors and just finish the bottom today. Just a little fairing left, sure I don't have to tell you but what a lousy job the bottom is on your back.

    Interprotect 2000

    Was talking to rep from Interlux today, getting some advice on barrier coats, and being the 2000 product can stay bare for six months and still be able to recoat it without sanding between coat, just sand the final one. I discovered you can apply Perfection over it, so just wondering if anyone has use it topside instead of epoxykote, how did it work out? That would mean I could get entire boat primed before winter sets in.

    Interprotect 2000 is a very good epoxy barrier coating for below the waterline. Many yards swear by it. I have not heard of anyone using it above the waterline and do not know of the results. For topsides I would stick to what the paint manufacturer of your topside paint makes and recommends as you can ensure you don't have any issues between the barrier coating/primer and the topside paint.

    When discussing the primers with the Interlux Rep, It was my idea only because the interprotect you can overcoat up to 6mos. out, with out sanding. With the amount of paint needed, I should have enough leftover to do the topside and interior just one coat, than when ready (spring), only need one coat of epoxykote before applying the Perfection finish coats. Just protecting the boat from the winter elements. The Rep also said the Interprotect is a little softer and very easy to sand if needed.

    I wouldn't do a coat and then wait 6 months to do another coat and then paint it. You'd have to clean the initial coat so much after 6 months, and degrease and probably sand it, that IMO it would be better to wait and just do it all at once. Not to mention the double taping and other prep work twice.

    You all have great boats. Mine is a 1974 Tournament Fisherman/Dory. It's been running great but I just pulled the Chevy 350 out to paint, detail and change the ring gear on the flywheel. Paragon transmission has a slight leak. I'll post some pictures when I figure it out.

    What's up guys......

    No posts since late August! Ed's wife is probably running marathons on her new knee at this stage.

    Kids back in school full ime and I actually snuck away today install the mufflers I mentioned a few weeks back. These are the Vernatone (Cendek) ski style mufflers - very easy to install. Purchased a 3 1/2 PVC pipe test cap - that plumbers use to test their lines, and used that to block the exhaust pipe at the stern so I could work without hauling out.

    I would say that they reduce the sound by ~30%, I was hoping for a little better than that. I guess there is no quelling the beast as those 4" pipes really roar as you throttle up.

    I would love to hear how the projects are going.

    Hi Charlie.... I wish the wife was up and running, but that's not happening. Aug 18 she has to go back for yet another surgery to remove scare tissue.

    As far as the dory it's coming along slow but sure. the Bottom is now complete with 3 coats of interlux 2000 will finish the last coat and antifouling in the spring. Would be able to a lot more but the pocketbook doesn't allow it. I want to complete the engine and rear compartments with bilge coats so new engine can go in.... that's the biggie, from all estimates between 9 and 10,000 bucks. Leaning towards the Crusader 315 hp 5.7 MPI
    Will make final choice come the boat show still want to see a few other options.
