    2awg is a little small. You should have at least 1/0. Small wire is the most common inverter problem. If you don't have much load it will work. But 2 won't do it if you you have a lot of load and will mostly hurt you for start up load.

    I am really interested in this thread as we want to add a freezer to our 3007 aft cabin, mostly to freeze all the fish we plan on catching ;)

    I have purchased a 3000 watt modified sine wave inverter (before I read this post) with the intent on using it for other loads, and have been looking at a 12 volt freezer. (This is fairly expensive)


    I was told that compressor freezers do not work well with a modified sine wave. If they do work well, then we can save a lot of money by purchasing a small 120vac freezer and plugging it into the inverter.

    So, can I run a 120vac freezer on a modified sine wave inverter?

    Thanks for the link.

    I see that running a freezer with the modified sine wave will damage the compressor over time.

    I think we will continue to look at 12vdc freezers.
