Love that Bertram 60'. Not sure about the enclosed helm model. I wonder how much weight that adds? Must be amazing to have almost DOUBLE the horsepower!! Oh my. 1400 hp engines.

I wonder when Bertram stopped making the rub rail out of aluminum? That can be an expensive job. Salon windows? Are they sealed in the 60'? Hope so as leaking into the salon is horrible.

I wonder what a CAT 3412 overhaul costs? I notice a couple that have low time on the engines ... is that because they were overhauled prematurely?

I wouldn't be scared off by a MAN powered boat as long as I could identify a mechanic with a good reputation in the area. (I know one NOT to use!!)

    Best wishes on your search.

I would definately much prefer 3412's over 16v92's. 3412's will usually go 10,000 hours...... Overhauls are around $50k a motor. I would guess 16v92 overhauls are double that. I would take MANs over 12v92's and 16v92's (but 12v71's over the man's LOL), they usually go at least 5,000 hours or more if taken care of. But CAT's would be my first choice of the 3.

There is a 1999 54' Bertram on YW with rebuilt 3412's and a tower in the mid $300k's that I stumbled across searching boats.

So what is your Hatteras recommendation in the $700k out the door price range?

Early 2000's 54' Hatteras SF or 60' Hatteras SF. Both have modern power and good boats. A 54' is a great running boat and the 60' is pretty good also.
