well it is usually at the back of the boat, just above the opening for the rudder shaft. Concerning dashboard cover, this must be quite impossible to find those days......

    Hey Lars,
I hope you had a good week end; I’m about to purchase a MC30 from 1986 in à condition which can only be described as compromised. I’m told that the Crusader engines were removed in 2018 and completely overhauled. I can’t confirm the quality of the rebuild as I don’t have the technical knowledge. However I will get them checked for sure.
Things to do are the following:
Replace the current carbs with original stock
    Full upholstery (except forward cabin)
Hull polish & Repaint the “painted areas”
Re-install portside L-shaped forward console as it’s missing
    Overhaul the windlass
Overhaul the fire extinguishing system in the engine room

All and any information would be highly appreciated.

Let us have some photos of your restoration, that would be amazing !

    With kind regards

    Sam

    Hello together,

reading a lot in this Forum and thanks for all the Information.

the MC 30 had since I was a child my favourite boat. We boat at the lake of Iseo and the MC30´s have been despite Riva St. Tropez and othe Rivas the kings of the lake. We had in those days Donzis and A Seebold Powerboat.
As now being "old" I hope to make my Dream(boat) come true. Perhaps someone may help me:
The Montecarlo 300 is an updated Version of the 30 with an slightly different windscreen?
Is it inside teh same. Isaw one without the storage hatches in the cabin. No one could help me if this was original or a lousy rebuild Job.
About Performance/engines: Most have the 454 Riva/Crusader 350. What Performance is to expect? I saw figures from 55 knots to 45 knots?
Is sa one withe the new crusaders 6.2. and 385 HP and Volvos with 430 HP. I was wondering because thy are slightly lighter about negativ Impact of the center of gravity? May they better perform?

    With Kind regards
    Stephan

    Great to read your story.

as far as I know, the 300 has an electric engine hatch. I think inside it is the same, you can find different engines, Mercruisers in particular.

I've never pushed the MC30 to full throttle but I cruise at 30 knots without problem with the "old" 454

    Good luck!

    Hello folks,
I'm the owner of a Montecarlo 300 (hull 408). Sold in 2000 from the factory to a member of the Omani Royal Family,
it has been neglected and abandoned for 15 years, and being restored for the last couple of years. Crusader 454 are rated 280HP and count around 130hrs each. Both overhauled but port engine has been done again because pulling water in one cylinder.
I'm fixing some few things before using it, cockpit has been arranged with some ugly aftermarket parts but still has the original VDO gages. I would like to restore it to factory defaults. Will post pics soon, glad to have found this thread.

    Hi folks,
I’am close to buy an 1987 MC30 with 454 Crusaders. it’s imported from France and I need to register in The Netherlands. I’am looking for the HIN, but only number I could find is at starboard engine room at wooden strip saying: O.N. 716631 R.T.4 40/100. Does someone has any idea what this number is?
    Best regards,
    Peter Breedijk

    Peter,

we have an app group with about 25 Monte Carlo owners who know everything baout these boats. Give me your number in a PM and ill make sure you get added.
Hull number is on the inside of the transom port side. There is a second place inside the anchor hatch, also port side high up.
