More members = more view points, experience and knowledge. That = a more interesting and valuable site and that = more members still. If how fast you got to 20,000 surprised you I think 30,000 will shock you. I look forward to a very informative year coming up. Thanks for all the hard work guys and congratulations.

Please include my thanks to all of those involved with the ongoing administration of YF. It's been a great experience for me and I've learned a lot along the way.

Thanks also to those who are willing to share their knowledge and experience. That is what makes this site what it is.

I was going to stay up, but I just can't keep my eyes open any longer.

That makes two of us. It's 11:00 PM and I'm fading fast. Gotta go to a boat show tomorrow, so I'll probably miss the 20k mark.

Thanks to everyone for the kudos, but I'm only one part of this equation. We're ALL in this together. :)

Just 5 to go... What are the odds that #20000 will be a bot/spammer and have to be removed?

    Hi,

I was online about 2 hrs after your last post, there were just 7 to go then.

It seems like a very slow day or maybe it's just because all eyes are glued on the total hoping it will climb up to 20,000.

I would say the odds are 50:50 of it being a non genuine member who first gets to No 20,000 if Carls figures above are any yardstick to go by in the current climate.

Odds of a bot: 100 to one.
Odds of a spammer: 10 to one.

The script I installed last year virtually eliminated bots. Prior to this, I was removing an average of 50 a day.

    My money's on a carbon based life-form becoming YF's 20k.

    Greetings,
Hey, can I join twice and blame it on my schizophrenia? I'd REALLY like the T-shirt.

Should it be a carbon life-form, we should drag his butt down to the pub and throw him a big a55 party!

This is sure to provide bragging rights in the proper circles.

Yippee! Seven years and six months since YF went live, I'm walking the docks at the Palm Beach Boat Show and I can finally say we have 20,000 members. It's sunny here and I'm feelin' the warmth! Thanks to everyone who makes YF the best read around. :)

    Mr 20.000..?

I was trying to catch who it would be, but it happened too fast between 19.999 and 20.001...

I have screenshots of those two events and my conclusion is that it could have been this Jeff..?

Right or wrong, do you have it Carl?

I could NOT have done this without you and Kevin. Not sure why the 20k number is so significant, but it's a good feeling; an accomplishment! Every contributing member of YF should be proud of this. Together, we ALL created an entirely new media.

In the Palm Beach Show "program", a free magazine handed out to show attendees... Yachts International, PMY, Yachting, Marlin, Passagemaker and Southern Boating have ALL taken out full page ads promoting the online versions of their magazines.

No rest for the weary. The competition is nipping on our heels...
