So the Maltese Falcon has returned to the AYC Marina after several weeks of absence; arriving to the sight of her usual spot being taken by the superior 'A'. Athos was caught in a sandwich between these colossal yachts, while Vertigo was tied up on the adjacent dock.

    Thank you very much!
Maybe you should come to Antigua for this year's Yacht Show Charter
    in December.

"Royal Clipper" is here today, I highlighted this because I believe this is the ending of that cruise and the ending of her Winter Season in the Caribbean.

"Royal Clipper" the biggest (none sailing:cool:) square rigged sailing ship in the world. Rumors say, it makes more waves on its lee side than on its stern, when sailing (athwartship runner). Even in their own advertising they admit, only to use their sails with really favorite winds. The cruising schedule is more important than the sailing adventure. But it is still a mighty ship with a high comfort level.

For a sailing cruise on a big square rigger I would prefer Sea Cloud (but only Sea cloud I).

    Cheers

"Royal Clipper" sails alot once the wind is blowing well but she does motor-sail alot too, as you said, the wind will not always be blowing ideally so you have to boost the speed by using engine power to stay on schedule.

So why not "Sea Cloud II", too modern for you?

Royal Clippers sailing performance is not very good at all, because it is not a purpose build square rigger. The Hull was build 1990 in Polland as a Dyna Rigg assisted low cost cruising ship for polish union workers. Later the the hull was extended at both ends to make it look like the famous 5 mast full rigger Preussen. The rigg is much shorter and simplyfied with furling yards for minimum crew requirements and strictly by the rules it is not a 5 mast full rigger. But still a 4 star cruising ship with high comfort level. See picture of Preussen below.

Sea Cloud I is a beautiful traditional square rigger with remarkable sailing performance and absolut top class comfort. My wife and I have done two cruises on her, a perfect adventure. I was allowed to steer her, a real beauty!!!!!!

Sea Cloud II is not by far as beautifull and not a classic. But her comfort level is as almost as high as on Sea Cloud I. It is more or less a matter of personal taste. I am tradionalist, as far as sailing ships are concerned.

I totally cosign that statement, and I would go on to further say that, she's not as streamlined as Sea Cloud I as well.
