Eos at Caneel Bay, USVI Hi, I'm new to this forum, but thought I'd mention that I photographed Eos in Caneel Bay, St. John, USVI a few days ago. There were three people swimming near the boat. Two small boats were 'standing guard'. Two men in one of the boats came to their feet as my family bounced by in our dinghy -- maybe a little too close? What a gorgeous sight -- Eos, not the men in the boat. Seriously though...a stunning beauty!
Hey there Iowa, welcome to the Yacht Forums. Its is good to see you got fairly up close an personal with a yacht the size and pedigree of the Lurssen Eos. Not many people get the chance to do that.
Hey, I think I found interior shots of the "Eos". If it is her it is the first time I am seeing them. It is described as a 90-meter Lurssen sail yacht...and that to me could only be Eos. http://www.lila-lou.com/portfolio-lurssen11.html
I think your right! I think you are right. Judging from exterior deck images they have, it appears to be classical and it does say Lurrsen. I agree. Nice find!
The Lurssen "Eos" recently arrived in Auckland harbour New Zealand after finishing her general maintainence refit at Stark Bros Limited in New Zealand as well. She was in drydock for approximately 14 days having various works done on her. In February, the "Nirvana" also docked there for refit work. *** Stark Bros
Eos has been in Auckland in the last few days. She passed us when I was out fishing together with a few mates the other evening. Impressive sight of a multi deck 300' sailing yacht. She then set sail West of Rakino Island for a wee blast on an aft-of-beam reach heading towards Great Barrier Island only to return heading down the inner Coromandel coast under power a couple of hours later. Tried to guage her speed under full sail and estimated it to be at least 12 knots in some 20 plus knots of wind. Unlike the new Kokomo being trialed she is no speedster and probably cannot point that high but she was as steady as a rock with limited heal! Wouldn't spill the drinks of course so one of her critical design specs has been met no doubt.
Well I haven't seen many pics of "Eos" sailing for myself but if she heels anything like "Athena" under full sail, you definitely wont be having drinks!
Hi, I think you will find the boat is physically at ICON in Harlingen not Huismans although the work is being carried out by Huisman craftsmen and women. I am reliably informed that the work is going very well and my contact tells me he is very pleased with the Huisman efforts to get the boat into better shape than when she was originally delivered.
EOS was also at Icon Yachts in the Netherlands for some refit works. Now in Oslo, she catches fire I hope there are no persons injured.
Hi, There was a thread about it yesterday: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/g...-eos-305-sailboat-fire-norway.html#post153802
There's a photo of EOS interior in a recent article of Vanity Fair ("The Secrets of François Catroux").
