    Great Info and I'm another who thanks you for the post. As a "Diesel Virgin" who is about to purchase my first diesel powered boat this info is very much appreciated. I've priinted the pages and will keep them aboard for future reference.

    I don't know if there are any engine manuals aboard the boat I'm buying. If not, where would I find out the CAT specs for oil for the 3406C engine?

    Hi,

    That's an easy one.

    CAT DEO (Diesel Engine Oil) for that will either be a multigrade 15/40 or if they are a bit older it might still run a mono grade 30 wt up your way or 40 wt in the tropics.
