Hey guys as they say don't try this at home, removing those wall coverings and saving the wood behind them was extremely difficult and tedious. Not to mention you are working in a small area making things messy every where. I had the carpets changed and all bedding so there were no real concerns then.
I am where you spent part of the summer, next door to where you are wintering this year. On the hard. You'll have to stop by sometime, check out progress
What did you use to remove the awl grip form your teak? Previous owner painted all the teak on my boat
Guys these pics show the kvh M1, a new fridge, with an Ipod docking station on top of the fridge, which is connected to a blue ray-surround sound system with a new LED TV. I hid the blue ray player and the kvh box and hooked up an IR remote set up. The IR remote is the small square just under the TV on the bottom right hand corner, it picks up the signal from the remote and sends the signal to the blue ray player and the Kvh box to change channels or other functions. Also notice the wedge AC vent which took the place of the factory vent which was along side the old TV. Beau I am sure I left something out LOL.. Lastly I hope a glass guy will be replacing my starboard side salon windows.
Rube-meister That 46 is looking like a honey. You ignored me last weekend, but that's OK. All that hard, hard work looks outstanding! BTW, whose travel lift are you in? Beau regards
Beau, I tried to get your attention as I walked out the salon door, you were way too fast for me. Thank You guys for the compliments, in my former career I did own an Auto Body repair shop and much of my business consisted of working on boats and corvettes. The rear bulkhead(salon area) of our Post is wood, mostly teak I believe. In any event I had used West System epoxy resin to encapsulate the entire area, then faired it, in the pics you will see areas that I did have to go over a few times. I use a white epoxy primer made by ppg, it works great and gives good adhesion to almost anything it is sprayed on. Lastly I did spray the area with Imron 5.0 voc, this spring the bridge and the entire structure below the bridge did also get sprayed with Imron. The boat shines like a mirror, I did not do anything with the front deck yet but the original gelcoat shines great but it is like an ice skating rink up there, I am thinking of doing the entire deck with non skid mixed in to the Imron, it will have a nice gloss but will keep most people upright when crossing that area.
Rube How is the window coming? Mine started to weep a few years ago. I wetted out the window seat with linseed oil - no leaks since. Seems like a good way to put oil back into the teak frame work?
Beau, that is the travel lift at Willis, this pic was taken 4/11/13. The window job is coming along, all I need now is for the glass guy to bring me my glass.
