    Marlonna

Here's a pic of my current gig...she's a 95' Broward built in 1986 - it's actually a pretty decent boat for an "intracoastal feadship" but the micro-commanders give me the willies.

I can't stop looking at Marlonna. I sure wish we had an open aft deck and extended cockpit. The two most useful options you could ask for... on any yacht. We looked into adding a cockpit, but the 150k price tag would have made it economically obsolete. You'de never recover the investment. Where are you berthed Josh?

I hate to be the bearer of sad tidings

but in the interests of boating safety - I feel somewhat "obligated" to point out - that the photo on page 3 of this thread, (of the stainless steel bow anchor!), it appears to be suffering a very nasty long fuzzy black casting crack in the left fluke! ;) :p

Might wanna take a closer look at that fluke - I'd hate to see it "let loose in a strong blow" and leave the owner "high n dry" on the rocks! :D

Bad bouy touty, bad bouy, down bouy, down I say! ;)

Ohh yeah - nice boats all!

    Cheers

Yeah, that was the first thing I noticed too... the crack on the flute of that anchor!

We're berthed behind the owner's house. Just north of the Las Olas bridge, then go left down the canal. The boat is in great shape because she was built above spec. her hull plates, engineering, air-con, electrical panels... everything was made accessible, and easy to service. The guy who had her built really knew what he was doing. She is definately a rare breed among browards. However it's still a boat and still takes a lot of work. I spent the better part of today sanding the aft deck. Sucky, sh*tty, back breaking job :(
and the varnish needs work, and some blisters, and the carpets need cleaning, and, and, and.... it's a boat.....
Carl - I'm impressed you know her. I hope her reputation doesn't precede me.
Maybe I'll post a pic of my other gig and see if you recognize that one - it's a hood ornament at LMC.

Upon further inspection (thanks for reminding me of that picture) I agree that some TLC might be needed. Perhaps she would like to come aboard my boat which has a much safer anchor. Though mine gets used occasionally, perhaps she would like to polish it for me.

I had heard there were a few Browards that were "over-built". Definately nice if you can find 'em! I found a 1980, 70' Broward that was listed by Peter Lenton at Lazzara Yacht Sales. It was over at LMC a couple of months ago getting a top end rebuild. This boat was in great condition and the price was right. Appearently, it was owned by an Admiral (or something like that) in the military and it was crew maintained. They were asking 595k and he said it could be bought for 500k. It was truly an original "baby" Broward. It was fully depreciated and in exceptional condition. Simply, a great buy.

I think I saw the boat you're talking about. My other baby is at LMC.

Hey, let's keep this thread going. I know we have new members aboard. I actually have to get pictures of my new 50 Bertram up (new laptop & lost everything on my old one). I'll get a few next week when I'm out at the new boat!

Nice to See this Thread Again!

I have a New Project this summer. Cherrying (sp?) out a 1995 Carolina Classic 28. Looking forward to being out of the office and on the water even if its just cleaning this thing up. Anyone have any good ideas on how to clean up the eisenglass?
