This is the good thing designing in 2D! Not until I like the profile, the 3D works will start. Up to this point it is only in my head I see a 3D design...

    Form follows Function

These lines are in fashion now, but they came from a functional requirement.

The vertical bow is there to extend the waterline for better speed. The narrow bow is there to cut through waves instead of crash down on them. The transom that steps down to the water allows easier access to the dinghy, but it was developed to reduce the weight at the rear while extending the waterline. The ice-breaker underwater profile allows a boat to lift over a floating obstruction.

Catamarans and wave-piercing hulls are 'fashionable' in New Zealand. But its because their nearest neighbours are a thousand miles away, so to get there you need something fast and economical, and that rules out 'traditional' boats which generally are either fast or economical, but not both.

Everything has a reason, so people don't need to be apologetic about using these newer techniques, they have just as much reason to exist as a heavy displacement boat fashioned on a trawler, perhaps more.

What really interesting is that some designers are now able to integrate these newer approaches into boats that don't appear to be difficult to digest for the traditionalist.

    Interesting times!!

Hi Arnie, right now we are building mock-ups of the interior to see that it will work. Especially the driving position is something that must be built up and tested out for reach and visibility. Over the next couple of days I will also meet with Mastervolt who are supplying the electrical system which is 12/24/220 volts on this boat.

Then all the final moulds for deck, roof and hatches must be finished before we can put all of it together. Launching will be this summer, but we have not settled on a fixed date...

After checking the mock-ups of the interior, we decided to move the curved glass wall in the salon 500 mm further aft. This will give more interior space and the aft deck is still rather big.

Since this also changes the profile of the supertrsucture, I have made a proposal more like our smaller boats. We´ll take the final decision on this next week...

In a couple of days I hope, some of the cushions are still wrapped in plastic.

Exterior shots we will try to do tomorrow, if just the rain stops...

I would think it will be a fair amount higher than that as I came across a D34 at about 300k€.

I am sure Lars will fill us in when he gets time.

Thanks to all, I like her too..:)

Yesterday night I had the pleasure of driving her and she performed even better than I expected. Today was too rainy for exterior pictures, but I got a few interiors. However, I´ll just give you a teaser and will post more after the Boat Show. On the price, I am not updated, but a guess is from € 1m, incl VAT.

Just another picture from the sea trial. Later in the day it was gale force winds and two meter vawes, but unfortunately dark, so no pictures...
