Great thread this makes me feel right at home
    -Debating how to measure length
    -misleading press articles
    -sarcasm
great stuff and good reading. I remember reading a magazine a few years back that seemed to do a yearly issue on this topic. I am amazed at the wealth some people can acquire at an early age, 41 years old and he started by selling plastic ducks, now he has a fleet of three yachts and one of them is the largest private vessel in us. I knew I should not have started my career selling dog food:D

Platinum Yachts recently added new pictures of the "Dubai" on their site. A few new interior pics that were not there before.

    Great Coliseum!

Hey does anyone have any further information or photos regarding "Eclipse"? Press seems to be quiet about her in the final stages of her fit out.

    *Edit*

I just found some pictures of her. I almost thought she was finished but she does seem to be still flying the Blohm and Voss flag from her mast and no resgistry flag from the stern...

I found this info, but have not confirmed...

    - Naval architecture was by Blohm + Voss and Terence Disdale
    - Hermidas Atabeyki was the yacht designer as well as famous superyacht designer Terence Disdale
    - Interior design was by Terence Disdale and Greenline Yacht Interiors

Sounds or look like the person that put up that information on that site has been following quite a few non-credible websites based on the itemization portrayed.

Well I personally think the sometimes 'outlandish' array of colours in mosaic patterns and swirls helps with the warmth although it could take some time for some to acquire the taste or in this case the sight and atmosphere of her interior but it is nice and different.

That would be bare minimum for the vessel, owner and a couple of guests. For events and full usage it would require more service crew. I'd say between 60 and 70 on events.

my idea is that these super big yachts are actually to big to be considered a yacht

Savarona which was for a time the biggest build was resident here for a few years, and I always wondered what kind of water contact did this yacht provide. The same I can say for the previous Abramahovic boat Savarona, which used to set base over here for a few weeks.
While a very interesting marketing tool to generate curiosuty I still do not understand how one can call a one hundred metre plus being it Giga, Super, Mega a yacht as actually in many of these boats there is no contact with the water. I also think that in most times the crew enjoy these vessels more the actual owner
I think it is better to call them personal cruise ship...

Could this be the next world's largest yacht? dubbed 'Project 1000', looks alot like a project I have seen over at Devonport. However, this concept or project -if built- would take over the #1 position by nearly 100 feet (99 feet infact). The 656-foot proposal is a design from Emocean Yacht Design? If this has any truth to it, well so long "Eclipse" in a few years.

Yaaaaaawn........ Wake me when some rich arab/russian REALLY decides to swing his dick and builds a "1,000 footer"

Thats the problem with things today, Im only impressed by things for a few moments at best, we need constant stimulation. It all started with either the cell phone or the digital calculator
