Cool boat, be even better if they added, say, another 15-20 feet.
    edit..
I see they make a 74, but without sail assist.

    Larger Diesel Duck-type vessel

Actually, if you can get a hold of Buehler's book, The Troller Yacht Book, he has a beautiful 81 footer. The "Ellemaid" design is 81' LOA, 76' 5" LWL, has a beam of only 14' 1" and draws 6' 6". She displaces 100,924 pounds and, with that narrow beam, only requires about a 100 to 150 hp engine. She carries two masts schooner-style for which I am sure George B. would be happy to draw a sail plan.

Oops, found the plans on his site, too! http://georgebuehler.com/ellemaid.html

    More about the DD 38+2

By chance, the June 2009 Passagemaker Magazine just arrived in my mailbox today. They feature the Diesel Duck 38+2 built by Seahorse Marine in a nine page spread.

Those Ducks seem well suited for our waters.

    Better still

    Those are great!

Only thing better would be a crew of actual cats that spend their shifts suspended in harnesses over the docklines to really give the rats a scare. But I'm sure the ASPCA and PETA people would have something bad to say. Then again would the furor be over employing the cats or being mean to the rats? ;)

I'm all for it, actually, I have a recruit for you. All he does is eat and sleep, but with the right training he could be whipped back to shape.

If your cat is anything like the 3 cats we are slaves to, with a little bit of the right training I suspect it would be YOU who would be whipped back to shape. :D

I've stopped trying to understand them, we just feed it and stay out of its way.

The Steveston lifeboat was built in Pearl Harbor in 1944 and saw extensive service with the U.S. Navy. Purchased by Horton in 1988, she has been used in the volunteer search and rescue service of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Canadian Lifeboat Institution. She remains in excellent condition.

A common sight on the Fraser River she has offered assistance to mariners in trouble on over 650 occasions.
