  1. Alloy Yachts starts construction on 39-meter Explorer

New Zealand and Auckland based yacht builder Alloy Yachts have started construction on a 39-meter Explorer styled yacht. Billed as AY44 at Alloy, she is being constructed from all aluminum and will be a displacement yacht in nature. The design for AY44 has been penned by well established René van der Velden. This design called for a long and strong bow, characteristic of explorer styled yachts. The majority of the superstructure will be placed aft of amidships.

The bridge location has been placed to keep watch over the foredeck and the nearby marine environs. A Portuguese walk-around the bridge ensures that the exterior of the bridge deck is easily accessible. One deck above, the sun deck will have three distinct zones. Forward will be sunpadded with access to a jacuzzi, amidships will be shaded by an aft oriented hard top fixed to the mast assembly. Aft, will be opened with the option of placing deck furniture and the like.

The interior of AY44 has been formulated by Redman Whiteley Dixon. This new 39-meter Explorer is expected to be delivered sometime in 2012. Alu plate cutting began at the start of July 2010.
