  1. McMullen & Wing 50-meter "Star Fish"


    In March 2010, New Zealand yacht builder McMullen & Wing launched the widely anticipated "Big Fish". Since then, she has been completed and delivered to owners. Next on the completion list for McMullen & Wing is slightly larger version of Big Fish called "Star Fish". This new 50-meter yacht is currently under construction and is reportedly for the same owner of the Big Fish.

    "Star Fish builds on the vision and philosophy so clearly demonstrated by the success of Big Fish. Star Fish will continue to expand the boundaries of the yachting experience, creating new yachts for a new age." Gregory C. Marshall has been employed in respect designing the Naval Architecture.

    She is being built utilizing a steel hull and aluminum superstructure. When completed Star Fish will weigh just under 500 gross tonnes. Twin CAT 3508B DI-TA marine engines are to be used. With 98,600 LT capacity fuel tanks she will have a range of over 9,000 nautical miles at just under 10 knots.

    Star Fish, is to be classed under Germanischer Lloyd. On the inside there will be accommodation for twelve guests in six well appointed staterooms. Twelve crew members will also be onboard and accommodated. McMullen & Wing is also designing and building a custom 21-foot long tender to be fitted to her stern. Star Fish is expected to be launched according to schedule in 2012.
