Okay, but not great. Try Herroshoff White! or if you want the "new metallic" look, which will be as dated as disco, then I would go for a Bronze, but even then, too easy to go out of fashion. Taste is very personal, just, with classic boats like these I believe you are interfering with the design when you modernise it with strong elements. IMHO!
Yeah like I said try to use your imagination. I want to keep it subtle and maintain the classic look but give it a little modern touch.
Now we can go water skiing.. I'll try to get a pic of a few here. In the yard is band-aid, yellow and two light blues. The rest are boring white.
Great to see another old huckins getting the love they deserve . hopefully Maldwin is lurking somewhere he is another huckins expert he has helped me out in the past with restorations.
A light gray would be traditional if that's what you're going for. With bright white deck and cabin, red boot top and a green bottom. Would be handsome. Here is an example:
Another huckins 402 is done in a whisper grey with a navy stripe and red bottom paint she looks stunning in those colors
When the above is completed, a new life as pretty as Lady Susan can begin again. Just pushed out of the bay. finishing up a couple of details she looks better than new. Sadly, Dick Rogers ship will be on the block.
What's the deal with Volare is she for sale? I have a buddy that after looking at mine wants to save one.
I have no info on her than she came in for rebuild. Ring the yard when you can. I'm sure they can answer some questions or point you toward something within your buds search. ,rc
If he wants a major restoration huck Fin is in chicago but needs a major major restoration .we looked at her but bought her sister ship instead .
