25 foot wide slip...an 82 foot cat with 36 foot beam would be a tough squeeze.

RE: Towing..make sure your boat can still achieve WOT rated RPM's with boat in tow..otherwise you will be lugging the engine. A big no no

Forget the slip - end tie.

Unless the OP has a private dock behind a house, dockage will be a nightmare. Most marinas have a handful of tee heads / end ties

Here in Miami where we have a massive dockage shortage, maybe one percent of marina space can accommodate a cat.

With our big tug we don't often use docks except to pick up barges. That's why we have two large anchors, 100m of chain and 12m power dinghies.

I would have expected more than 330ft of chain on an ocean going tug that size, at a 3:1 ratio that only gives you 100 ft of anchoring depth max?

We have 400', can see going to 500' which is what 164' WP's have on one anchor, but I can't imagine where I'd ever be anchoring in over 100' of water. Once you get beyond 100', you're soon over 500' and then out of luck. If I'm crossing oceans I'm in thousands of feet of water. Where were you thinking of it being needed?

I have a mental picture of Icelandic waters having deep drop offs near shore like the West Coast.
As a reference, I also worked on a 128’ MY new construction project in Long Beach and the owner was a big fan of anchoring outside, we had 450’ all chain on each anchor set-up. He anchored from Alaska to the Med with little issues.
Lots of offshore banks near SoCal that require minimum 600’ of anchor chain/rode combination to pull it off, anchoring in 80 - 120’. A 44 SF will have at least the same 330’ feet as the reference ocean tug and a 60 - 70’ SF may have twice as much.
The party boats like the Prowler which was involved in the collision at sea have set-ups that can carry as much as 800’ to even 1000’ for the bigger SD partyboats that target deeper Offshore seamounts or oil rigs.

One anchor is 200kg the other 300kg. Holds pretty good with 100m chain each +250m x 75mm Samson Neutron-8 synthetic rope.

Waters in fiords are very deep.

Leaving Sudavik for final Acores delivery. This has been one great vessel. I will miss her.

Leyfi Sudavik til endanlegra Acores fæðingu. Þetta hefur verið eitt frábært skip. Ég mun sakna hennar.

Ah, now I see the 250m of synthetic rode. Makes sense now, massive anchor, 100m of heavy chain and 250m of 75mm rode, nice set-up for those deep fjord waters!

Quitter Sudavik pour la dernière livraison aux Acores. Cela a été un grand navire. Elle me manquera.
Sudavik verlaten voor de laatste levering van Acores. Dit was een groot schip. Ik zal haar missen.

    "Dit was een geweldig schip"

    "Groot" is plain "large"

Just wondering if you would explain your opinion re: Marlowe. Don't own one and not in the market for one either. I was under the impression they were a quality boat but I have zero personal knowledge.

If your info comes from the rag mags, You could think it's a great boat as I did.
Please search Marlow on YF threads. Has been many including design issues and lawsuits.
It would be hard to reopen all (many) of these thoughts again.
